Combustion engine

A combustion engine for combustion of an air-fuel mixture containing air and fuel, comprising at least one temperature adjusting means for cooling or heating the air, fuel, and/or air-fuel mixture and a control unit configured to determine the methane number and/or hydrogen content of the fuel and/or air-fuel mixture, wherein the control unit is configured to control a temperature of the air, fuel and/or air-fuel mixture based on the determined methane number and/or hydrogen content by controlling the at least one temperature adjusting means.

FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SPARK IGNITED ENGINES OF WORK VEHICLES

A fuel delivery system includes a fuel tank, a primary fuel pump disposed in the fuel tank, a fuel regulator device connected with the primary fuel pump by a primary fuel delivery line, and a fuel cooler device coupled with the fuel regulator device by a fuel bypass line and with the fuel tank by a fuel return line. The fuel regulator device receives unregulated supply fuel from the primary fuel pump via the primary fuel delivery line, controls a property of the unregulated supply fuel for output as regulated fuel, and delivers the regulated fuel via a regulated fuel delivery line to a secondary fuel pump of the work vehicle. The fuel cooler device receives bypass fuel from the fuel regulator device via the fuel bypass line, cools the received bypass fuel, and delivers the cooled bypass fuel to the fuel tank via the fuel return line.

A compression ignition engine includes an air intake port, an intake air heater disposed upstream of the air intake port and an air blend valve in communication with the intake air heater and the air intake port, and a control unit is configured to perform the noted method. A method includes determining a target temperature for intake air at an air intake port of a compression ignition engine; determining a maximum port temperature for an air blend valve of the engine; designating an intake air heater or the air blend valve as a primary actuator for controlling temperature of the intake air, based on the maximum port temperature of the air blend valve; and controlling the temperature of the intake air based on the designated primary actuator. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium has instructions stored thereon, which when executed by a computer cause the computer to perform the method.
