Present embodiments relate to an air filter adapter for use with open style engine air filters. More particularly, but without limitation, present embodiments relate to a filter adapter having a hydrocarbon trap positioned within the adapter.

The present invention is directed to the use of all improve,d hydrocarbon adsorption system for the treatment of evaporative emissions from a motor vehicle. More specifically, the system includes one or more hydrocarbon adsorption elements being housed within a frame, the frame being permanently affixed within the air intake housing of engine.

A tubular air cleaner for an internal combustion engine includes a tubular housing, a tubular filter element, and a planar adsorbent filter. The tubular housing includes a circumferential wall including an inlet, a top wall including an outlet, and a bottom wall opposed to the top wall. The tubular filter element is accommodated in the housing. The planar adsorbent filter is located at an inner side of the filter element to adsorb evaporated fuel of the internal combustion engine. The adsorbent filter extends in an axial direction of the filter element. The filter element includes an inner surface spaced apart from each of opposite planes of the adsorbent filter by a gap that allows air to reach the outlet without passing through the adsorbent filter.

The present invention discloses an air cleaner for a vehicle. An air cleaner for a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a housing having an intake port for suctioning air and an outtake port for supplying the air suctioned through the intake port to an engine system of the vehicle; and an element installed in the housing to filter the air suctioned through the intake port, and the air cleaner further includes an evaporation gas collecting unit installed at an upper part of the inside of the housing to collect evaporation gas.

An integrated hydrocarbon trap and air filter in the soundtube of a vehicle for use in conjunction with the engine's air intake system is disclosed. The trap and air filter comprises a housing body having first and second ends. The housing includes hydrocarbon-adsorbing media and air filter media. The hydrocarbon-adsorbing and air filter trap are incorporated into a soundtube. A first soundtube portion connects the housing to the engine's air intake system while a second soundtube is open to ambient and connects the housing to a vehicle body structure such as a fender. Selection of the body diameter, thickness, and length, the dimensions and type of both air filter media and hydrocarbon-adsorbing media and position of the air filter media, NVH media, and space relative to the trap media and location of the integrated hydrocarbon trap and air filter along the soundtube provide superior tunability and adaptability.

The present invention discloses an air cleaner for a vehicle. An air cleaner for a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a housing having an intake port for suctioning air and an outtake port for supplying the air suctioned through the intake port to an engine system of the vehicle; and an element installed in the housing to filter the air suctioned through the intake port, and the air cleaner further includes an evaporation gas collecting unit installed at an upper part of the inside of the housing to collect evaporation gas.

The present invention discloses an air cleaner for a vehicle. An evaporative fuel treatment apparatus includes a canister, a vapor passage, an outside air introduction passage, a purge passage that connects the canister and an intake passage to each other, a sealing valve configured to open/close a flow channel of the vapor passage, a tank internal pressure sensor, a pressure sensor configured to detect a vapor pressure; and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to determine whether or not there is an abnormality in the tank internal pressure sensor based on a change in the vapor pressure in changing over the sealing valve from a closed state to an open state, when an amount of change in the tank pressure in changing over the sealing valve from the closed state to the open state is lower than a first predetermined value.

An air cleaner assembly (100) for an internal combustion engine, has a housing (10) with at least one intake air inlet and at least one intake air outlet (14) formed in the housing wall (18) for supplying an intake air to the internal combustion engine, at least one filter element disposed within the housing (10) for filtering the intake air, separating a rough air side from a clean air side inside the housing (10), and at least one flow straightener insert (20) comprising a body structure (40) with a hydrocarbon absorbing medium (30) disposed at the clean air side of the filter element. The at least one outlet (14) accommodates the at least one flow straightener insert (20).

A combined mass airflow sensor and hydrocarbon trap is provided for absorbing evaporative hydrocarbon emissions from an air intake duct of an internal combustion engine. The combined mass airflow sensor and hydrocarbon trap comprises a duct that supports a hydrocarbon absorbing sheet in an unfolded configuration within a housing. The duct communicates an airstream from an air filter to the air intake duct during operation of the internal combustion engine. An opening in the housing receives a mass airflow sensor into the duct, such that the mass airflow sensor is disposed within the airstream. Guide vanes extending across the duct reduce air turbulence within the airstream passing by the mass airflow sensor. Ports disposed along the duct allow the evaporative hydrocarbon emissions to be drawn into the interior and arrested by the hydrocarbon absorbing sheet when the internal combustion engine is not operating.
