Active combustion air intake system for truck, tractor, or bus vehicle
A combustion air intake apparatus for a truck, tractor, or bus vehicle for highway use includes an air deflecting element that is selectively deployable to cause dynamic air pressure created by vehicle motion to increase static air, pressure within the intake apparatus under appropriate conditions. Deployment or retraction of the air deflecting element is responsive to at least one of forward speed of the vehicle, air pressure downstream of an air inlet opening, or throttle position, and may further be responsive to detection of precipitation and/or particulate material. An air deflecting element may include a moveable plate or flap, moveable louvers, or a moveable duct.
Air Filter Element Having a Circumferentially Protruding Clean Air Seal, Filter Housing and Air Filter
An air filter element for an air filter for an internal combustion engine is provided with a filter medium surrounding annularly a longitudinal axis of the air filter element. A first end disk is provided at a first end face of the air filter element, wherein the filter medium is embedded in the first end disk at the first end face. A clean air seal is configured to seal a raw side of the air filter against a clean side of the air filter. The clean air seal and the first end disk are embodied together as one piece. The clean air seal protrudes continuously radially past the filter medium. A filter housing for the air filter element is provided with a filter pot and a cover and has a clean air outlet and a raw air inlet arranged at a side wall of the filter pot.
AIR INTAKE FOR WORK VEHICLE
An intake tower for a work vehicle has a grille with a front face and a duct defining an internal volume and an air intake. The air intake has a periphery at which the grille is mounted and first and second ends. The first end of the air intake is closer to a region of relative low pressure within the internal volume of the duct than the second end. A partition extending between the first and second ends of the air intake is recessed from the front face of the grille. The partition defines one or more intake openings leading to the internal volume of the duct. The opening(s) or portion thereof define a first flow area at the first end of the air intake and a second flow area at the second end of the air intake. The first flow area is lesser than the second flow area, and the opening(s) or portion thereof defining the first flow area is located nearer the front face of the grille than the opening(s) or portion thereof defining the second flow area.
WORK VEHICLE
The disclosure provides a work vehicle in which clogging of a filter of an air cleaner with snow can be suppressed. The work vehicle includes: a radiator that cools cooling water for an engine; an air cleaner that cleans air to be fed to the engine; and an inlet hose that has an aspiration port open on a rear side of the radiator and leads the air from the aspiration port to the air cleaner. The radiator includes a shroud having an opening in which a fan of the engine is disposed and the aspiration port is disposed not to overlap with the opening of the shroud in back view.
ENGINE AIR CLEANER WITH INTEGRATED COMPRESSOR SUPPRESSOR
An air cleaner assembly can contain an air filter element to filter contaminant material out of an air stream. In some examples, the air cleaner assembly includes a housing with an integrated noise suppression chamber for supplying air to a downstream compressor. The housing forms a cavity into which an air filter element is inserted. Contaminated air enters the housing and passes through the air filter. Filtered air can discharge from the housing through a first opening supplying air to a combustion engine and a second opening supplying air to a compressor. Air supplied to the compressor passes from the interior of the housing containing the filter element and through the integrated noise suppression chamber before being discharged. The acoustic energy released by the filtered air stream exiting the air cleaner assembly may be reduced by passing through the noise suppression chamber.
Filter Element, Housing for a Filter System, and Filter System Comprising a Filter Element and a Housing
A filter element for filtering a fluid has a filter bellows arranged about the longitudinal axis of the filter element and enclosing an interior of the filter element. A first end disk open toward the interior is arranged at a first end of the filter element. A second closed end disk is arranged at a second end of the filter element. The second end is oppositely positioned to the first end in a direction of the longitudinal axis. The filter bellows has folds with radially outer fold edges positioned on an outer circumferential surface of the filter bellows. The filter bellows is provided with a notch at least at one of the first and second ends. The notch has an axial length in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The axial length is shorter than a length extension of the filter bellows in the direction of the longitudinal axis.
Filter Element, Filter System Comprising a Filter Element, and Method
A filter element for a filter system for filtering a fluid has a filter bellows arranged about a longitudinal axis and enclosing an interior of the filter element. A closed end disk is arranged at a first end of the filter element and closes off the interior of the filter element. An end disk with an opening to the interior of the filter element is arranged at a second end of the filter element oppositely positioned to the first end viewed in direction of the longitudinal axis. The closed end disk has a hollow pin projecting into the interior of the filter element in direction of the longitudinal axis. The filter system has a housing for receiving the exchangeable filter element with a housing part closable by a cover. The hollow pin of the closed end disk can be pushed onto a pin of the housing part.
ASPIRATION SYSTEMS FOR WORK VEHICLES INCLUDING EXHAUST TUBES HAVING AIRFLOW AREA MODIFIERS
In one aspect, an aspiration system for a work vehicle includes an exhaust tube extending along a flow direction and an aspiration tube in flow communication with the exhaust tube at an aspiration zone of the exhaust tube such that the aspiration tube is configured to receive an aspirated airflow. The system also includes an airflow area modifier provided in operative association with the aspiration zone and actuatable to adjust a cross-sectional flow area of the exhaust tube within the aspiration zone. The system includes an actuator provided in operative association with the airflow area modifier such that the actuator is configured to alter an orientation of the airflow area modifier such that the cross-sectional flow area of the exhaust tube within the aspiration zone is adjusted.
Air delivery system for an engine
An air delivery system for an engine includes a first air filter, a second air filter, a first conduit, a second conduit, an air box, and a third conduit. Each of the first air filter and the first conduit, and each of the second air filter and the second conduit are disposed at a first angle with respect to a lateral axis of the air box. The first angle is adapted to limit restriction to flow of intake air from each of the first air filter and the second air filter toward the air box. The third conduit is disposed at a second angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of the air box. The second angle is adapted to limit restriction to the flow of intake air from the air box to the engine.
