In the main body a second line is coupleable to the needle guide and to a control chamber of a control valve of the fuel injector, wherein via the second line a fuel is feedable to the needle guide as barrier fluid and to the control chamber as working fluid.

FUEL INJECTION VALVE

An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel injection valve configured to suppress bouncing of a valve element that is caused as a result of the valve element being rendered elastic when the valve element collides with a valve seat.

The fuel injection valve of the present invention includes the valve element configured to come into contact with the valve seat for closing an injection hole and to separate from the valve seat for unclosing the injection hole, an elastic member urging the valve element toward the valve seat, a movable iron core disposed to be in and out of contact with the valve element, a fixed iron core disposed to be opposed to the movable iron core, and a coil configured to generate electromagnetic force for moving the movable iron core. At least one lower rigidity part having reduced rigidity per axial unit length is provided between a surface where urging force of the elastic member is transmitted to the valve element and a seat part whereat the valve element comes into contact with and separates from the valve seat.

Internal Combustion Engine

An internal combustion engine includes a piston and a fuel injection valve. The fuel injection valve includes a first injection hole, a second injection hole, a first needle configured to open and close the first injection hole, and a second needle configured to open and close the second injection hole. The first injection hole and the second injection hole are configured such that a portion of a fuel spray injected from the first injection hole and a portion of a fuel spray injected from the second injection hole overlap each other at a position apart at a predetermined distance from a side wall of a cavity of the piston. The second needle is configured to start operation in order to open the second injection hole after a predetermined time has elapsed from a point of time when the first needle starts operation in order to open the first injection hole.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A fuel injection valve has first injection holes, second injection holes, a first needle that opens and closes the first injection holes, and a second needle. The fuel injection valve is arranged such that a part of fuel injected from the first injection hole and a part of fuel injected from the second injection hole are gathered together at a position spaced from the side wall of the cavity by a predetermined distance. The second needle starts operating to open the second injection holes, after a predetermined time elapses from a point in time at which the first needle starts operating to open the first injection holes.

Methods and systems are provided for direct fuel injection. In one example, a fuel injector system includes an injector needle with an injector pin with a curved fuel channel of non-uniform width around the outer circumference of the injector pin, fluidically connected along the length of the curved fuel channel with a fuel reservoir inside the injector pin. An actuator coupled to the injector needle may sequentially move and position the injector needle to establish fluidic connection between the curved fuel channel and with one or more nozzle holes of the fuel injector at each position, where a duration of the fluidic connection at each position is based on a width of the curved fuel channel, and may determine the volume of fuel being discharged from only those nozzle holes, thereby reducing fuel spray interaction and increasing fuel spray atomization.

A normal control unit performs a normal control to cause an injection apparatus to perform predetermined normal injection and subsequently cause an ignition plug to perform ignition. In a delay region in a combustion chamber, propagation of flame is retarded further than in another region when the normal control is performed. In a knock state, self-ignition occurs in the delay region when the normal control is performed. When the knock state is established, an adjustment control unit performs, to suppress the self-ignition, an adjustment control to perform main injection and subsequently perform sub-injection in a second half of a compression stroke to adjust a fuel distribution in the combustion chamber to facilitate propagation of flame to the delay region further than in the normal control and subsequently cause the ignition plug to perform the ignition.

A fuel injector includes a needle valve including a spring-retaining section and a guide section that is adjacent to the spring-retaining section. The spring-retaining section includes an elongated portion and a flange that are together configured to support a spring assembly. The guide section includes a plurality of constricted portions alternatingly arranged with a plurality of expanded portions to define an undulating shape of the guide section. Each of the plurality of expanded portions includes a plurality of indentations to permit fuel to travel therealong to exit an outlet of the fuel injector. The guide section has a length that is substantially equal to a length of the spring-retaining section.
