Components formed with high strength steel

An example component of a machine includes a core layer and an outer layer encasing the core layer. The outer layer has a greater carbon concentration and hardness than the core layer. The outer layer may also be compressively stressed, while the core layer may have tensile stress. The stress and/or hardness profile of the component may enhance its resistance to cracking, particularly in applications where the component is impacted by other object and/or operates at elevated temperatures. The component, such as parts of a fuel injector, may be formed by rough forming the component, carburizing the component, quenching the component, subzero processing the component, and then performing a tempering process. The components may have relatively sharp transition from the high carbon outer layer to the lower carbon core layer. Additionally, the components have a relatively high tempering resistance when used in relatively high temperature environments.

A fuel injection valve includes a displaceable valve body, a valve seat surface that touches the valve body, and an injection hole cup including at least one injection hole formed on the valve body's tip end side and beyond where the valve seat surface touches the valve body. The injection hole cup includes a low lipophilic portion and a lipophilic portion formed on the injection hole cup's surface, the lipophilic portion is formed inside at least a part of a range in which the low lipophilic portion is formed, and at least one portion of the low lipophilic portion is connected to the injection hole's end portion.

FUEL INJECTION VALVE

A fuel injection valve includes: a circular plate portion that is abuttable against an end surface of a needle opposite from a valve seat while the needle being provided to open and close an injection hole upon lifting and seating of the needle relative to the valve seat; and a tubular portion that extends from the circular plate portion toward the valve seat and has an end part, which is opposite from the circular plate portion and is abuttable against a movable core second contact surface of a movable core opposite from the valve seat. In a state where the circular plate portion abuts against the needle, and the tubular portion abuts against the movable core, a gap is formed between a flange member end surface of a flange of the needle and a movable core first contact surface of the movable core opposite from the valve seat.

Fuel injection valve

An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel injection valve configured to suppress bouncing of a valve element that is caused as a result of the valve element being rendered elastic when the valve element collides with a valve seat. The fuel injection valve of the present invention includes the valve element configured to come into contact with the valve seat for closing an injection hole and to separate from the valve seat for unclosing the injection hole, an elastic member urging the valve element toward the valve seat, a movable iron core disposed to be in and out of contact with the valve element, a fixed iron core disposed to be opposed to the movable iron core, and a coil configured to generate electromagnetic force for moving the movable iron core. At least one lower rigidity part having reduced rigidity per axial unit length is provided between a surface where urging force of the elastic member is transmitted to the valve element and a seat part whereat the valve element comes into contact with and separates from the valve seat.
