10001097 · 2018-06-19 · ·

A fuel injection apparatus for a piston engine includes a fuel injector body in which an injector needle is provided, which injector needle is arranged to prevent or allow fuel injection flow from the injection apparatus based on the position of the injector needle. The position is effected by a pressurized control fluid so that by applying the pressurized control fluid the needle may be urged towards its closed position and by reducing the pressurized control fluid the needle may be allowed to move away from its closed position. The injection apparatus includes a flow path for the control fluid, wherein the flow path for the control fluid comprises a restriction section providing a restriction effect to the control fluid flow. The restriction section includes at least one temperature-effected member providing a temperature-dependent restriction effect.

A valve for metering a flowing, e.g. gaseous or liquid, medium, in particular a fuel injection valve for internal combustion engines, is described, which valve comprises a valve housing having an inflow for the medium, a valve body having a metering opening for the medium, a join present between the valve housing and valve body, and a seal sealing the join. In order to ensure a seal that is reliable and not susceptible to cracking, in which context the material of the valve housing and valve body can be selected without restriction, the seal has a clamping ring, covering the join, that sits with a press fit on end portions, facing toward one another at the join, of the valve housing and valve body.

A piezo injector for direct fuel injection may comprise an injector body, an actuator unit having a piezoelectric actuator with a head plate and a base plate, a hydraulic coupler having a coupler piston, a coupler cylinder, and a coupler spring, and a nozzle unit having a nozzle needle arranged in a nozzle body. The piezoelectric actuator is surrounded by a corrugated tube braced between the head plate and the base plate such that the piezoelectric actuator has a preload imparted to it. The coupler spring forces the coupler piston against a face side, facing toward the coupler piston, of the nozzle needle.

FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY WITH WIRE MESH DAMPER
20180058404 · 2018-03-01 ·

A gas turbine fuel injector assembly including one or more dampers for damping vibration of one or more fuel conduits in the assembly. The dampers may at least partially surround the fuel conduits, and each damper has an intermediate portion that is bowed relative to axial end portions to form a pocket, which enables the damper to be free to flex radially for damping vibration experienced by the fuel conduit during operation. The damper may be a wire mesh damper formed with interwoven wires that are configured to move relative to each other in response to vibrational movement of the fuel conduit. The wire mesh damper also may enable fluids, such as gases or fuel, to flow through gaps in the wire mesh. The damper may support and damp individual fuel conduits, thereby enabling the fuel conduits to thermally expand independently of each other in the assembly.

Fuel injector having a magnetostrictive actuator device

The present disclosure provides a fuel injector including a magnetostrictive actuator that is capable of precise control of a needle or nozzle valve element. The magnetostrictive actuator is direct-acting on the nozzle valve element, which extends into the magnetostrictive actuator, providing a compact fuel injector configuration that may provide rate-shaping of a fuel injection event.

DIESEL EXHUAST FLUID INJECTOR CALIBRATION FREEZE PROTECTION INSERT

An injector which incorporates the use of an insert to compensate for the change in volume of diesel exhaust fluid as the diesel exhaust fluid freezes, reducing or eliminating the effects on the calibration of the injector. The calibration freeze protection insert is located adjacent a calibration sleeve in the injector, where the insert is welded to an inlet tube. Any axial forces applied to the calibration sleeve from the blocking force of the freezing diesel exhaust fluid are transmitted to the insert, and the position of the insert is maintained by the welds. The insert and the calibration sleeve are configured to only allow small amounts of diesel exhaust fluid to migrate around the injector components, which is able to be compensated for by the elastic modulus of the various injector components.

Fluid injector

A fluid injector has a solid state actuator and a control piston unit arranged in a recess of an injector body. A transmission pin mechanically couples the actuator to the control piston unit. A first control chamber, coupled hydraulically to a second control chamber, is delimited by the control piston unit and the injector body. A control piston of the control piston unit has an end surface that is coupled to the transmission pin and which delimits the first control chamber. The control piston unit has a control sleeve arranged coaxially with the control piston and an inwardly directed projection that provides a driving coupling between the control piston and the control sleeve after a predefined control stroke of the control piston. The driving coupling results in the control piston influencing a free volume of the first control chamber during an axial movement of the control piston.

Control valve

The present invention relates to a control valve for a fuel injector. The control valve has a control valve body which defines a supply passage for high pressure fuel. A control chamber and a pressure compensating chamber are provided in the control valve. The control chamber and the pressure compensating chamber are both in fluid communication with the supply passage. A control valve member is provided for controlling fuel pressure in the control chamber. The pressure compensating chamber is spaced radially outwardly from the control chamber. The invention also relates to a control valve member having a pressure compensating cavity.

Active purge mechanism with backflow preventer for gas turbine fuel injectors

A fuel injector for a gas turbine engine includes an injector body having a feed arm with a nozzle body mounted thereto. A fuel conduit fluidly connects a fuel inlet portion of the feed arm to a fuel circuit in the nozzle body to form a fuel path through the injector body and an insulative gap is defined between the fuel conduit and an inside of the feed arm wall to thermally insulate the fuel path of the injector body. An aperture through the feed arm wall provides fluid communication between the insulative gap and ambient conditions existing on an outside of the feed arm wall.
