System having a fuel distributor and multiple fuel injectors

A system, which is used especially as a fuel injection system for the high-pressure injection in internal combustion engines, includes a fuel distributor and a plurality of fuel injectors. Each fuel injector is situated on a cup of the fuel distributor. At least one of the fuel injectors is fastened to the associated cup by a holding element. The holding element has an at least essentially straight first leg and an at least essentially straight second leg. The cup includes at least one recess, which extends through a wall of the cup. The first leg and the second leg are guided through the at least one recess. Furthermore, the connection sleeve of the fuel injector has a collar, which is braced on the first leg of the holding element and on the second leg of the holding element in order to secure the fuel injector on the cup.

Various embodiments include a fuel injector assembly for an internal combustion engine comprising: an injector cup; a securing device to fasten the injector cup to the engine; wherein a first end of the injector cup remote from the fuel inlet port comprises an outwardly extending flange; a connector abutting the flange, wherein the injector cup and the fuel injector are secured together through the connector; and a fastening bracket supported on the flange, wherein the injector cup and the connector are secured through the fastening bracket by a fastening device. The fastening device comprises a U-shaped clip with a first arm disposed between a clamping face of the fastening device and the fastening bracket and a second arm generally parallel to the first arm disposed on the opposite side of the fastening bracket.

Various embodiments may include a long injector for fuel injection comprising: a base portion and an extension portion electrically connected to the base portion. An end of the extension portion may include an electrically conductive terminal with contact clips. The contact clips are spaced at a distance from each other or from a side wall of the electrically conductive terminal. An end of the base portion comprises electrical contacts positioned so each of the electrical contacts can slide into a contact clip of the electrically conductive terminal. The electrically conductive terminal includes a latch mechanism. An electrical connection between the base portion and the extension portion is created when the electrical contacts are inserted into the contact clip and held by the latch mechanism. The long injector further comprises an overmolded body encapsulating the electrical connection between the base portion and the extension portion.

Fuel injector

In general, the subject matter described in this disclosure can be embodied in a fuel injector that includes an upper housing portion that defines an inlet passage adapted to receive fuel, and a lower housing portion that is attached to the upper housing portion and that defines an injector outlet adapted to dispense fuel. The fuel injector includes an electromagnetic coil assembly that is user removable while the upper housing portion remains attached to the lower housing portion. The fuel injector includes a movable pintle that is biased to a closed position that is adapted to prevent fuel from flowing through the injector outlet, and movable, responsive to magnetic force produced by energizing the electromagnetic coil assembly, to an open position that is adapted to permit fuel to flow through the injector outlet.

Each fuel delivery outlet has an injector cup and an injector cup mounting connection arranged between the main gallery and the injector cup. A fixing bracket is adapted to fasten the main gallery to the engine. The fixing bracket is spaced apart from the injector cup and secured to the main gallery. A fastening element is provided to secure the fixing bracket to the engine. A rigid connection member is coupled to the fixing bracket extends between the fixing bracket and one of the injector cup and the injector cup mounting connection.

Quick fit connector

A quick fit connector is disclosed for the return line of fuel injectors in an internal combustion engine. The connector includes a T- or L-shaped connector body having at least one connection branch insertable in a fuel return port of a fuel injector, a lower plate, an upper plate and a spring clip. The upper plate is slidingly mounted on the spring clip and the connector body and is movable between an unlocked position, in which the spring clip is in unloaded condition and free from any engagement with the fuel injector, and a locked position in which the spring clip is in loaded condition and engages the fuel injector and the lower plate.
