Engine start/stop system for park conditions
An automatic engine stop-start (ESS) system for a vehicle with an internal combustion engine includes a brake pedal, a gear shifter configured to shift a transmission between park, reverse, neutral, and drive, and a controller. The controller is configured to command an ESS engine stop when the gear shifter is in drive, the vehicle is stopped, and the brake pedal is pressed, prevent an ESS engine restart when the gear shifter is shifted from drive to park, and provide, when the ESS engine restart is prevented, a warning notification to a driver that the engine is keyed-on.
Vehicle control system with idling stop control
The air-conditioning control device is configured to control an air conditioner for a vehicle having a radiant heater and to output a cancel signal that allows an engine, which has been stopped in response to an idling stop control, to restart. The radiant heater is configured to generate radiant heat to heat an occupant in a compartment of the vehicle. The air conditioner is configured to heat an interior of the compartment using engine cooling water. The air-conditioning control device stops the engine in response to the idling stop control. The air-conditioning control device outputs a cancel signal allowing the engine to restart following the engine having been stopped such that an idling stop time is longer when the radiant heater is operated than when the radiant heater is not operated.
Method and system for engine control
Methods and systems are provided for extending a duration of engine idle-stop while reducing a frequency of engine restart from idle-stop. In one example, in response to engine restart conditions where combustion torque is not necessary, an engine can be rotated electrically, without fuel delivery, via an electric motor. The unfueled engine spinning via the motor drives an FEAD which in turns drives an actuator coupled to the FEAD, such as an AC compressor or an automatic transmission oil pump.
Method and system for an engine
Methods and systems are provided for relieving pressure from a compression locked engine. The engine may be compression locked during an engine start attempt due to operator application of a manual transmission clutch at or around the time of a first combustion event of the engine start. A direct injector of the compression locked cylinder is commanded open to relieve the pressure into the fuel rail.
Engine cooling apparatus
Provided is an engine cooling apparatus capable of preventing deterioration in reliability of a cylinder head of an engine during cold engine operation. The engine cooling apparatus comprises an engine cooling water path, a heater core cooling path, and a radiator cooling water path, and further comprises a switching valve for switching among these cooling water paths. The switching valve is operable, when the temperature of an area around an exhaust valve is raised to a value greater than, e.g., 150° C., even in a situation where the temperature of cooling water for cooling the engine is equal to or less than, e.g., 50° C., to switch from the in-engine cooling water path to the heater core cooling water path.
Start-stop device for commencing an automatic switch-off process of a drive machine
A start-stop device for commencing an automatic switch-off process of a drive machine in a motor vehicle includes means for detecting a first trigger condition for initiating an automatic switch-off process, means for detecting a second trigger condition for initiating an automatic switch-off process if the first trigger condition can no longer be met, and means for initiating an automatic switch-off process of the drive machine if the first trigger condition or the second trigger condition is met.
Vehicle control device
A vehicle control device configured to be capable of executing idle stop control to automatically stop an engine when a predetermined automatic stop condition is satisfied and restart the engine when a predetermined restart condition is satisfied during the automatic stop of the engine, the vehicle control device includes: a start request detector, a shift position detector, and a delay time setting module. A start request detector detects a driver operation indicating a request for starting the engine by a driver. A shift position detector detects a shift position of a shift changer. A delay time setting module sets, on a basis of presence or absence of the driver operation and the shift position, a delay time from when the engine is restarted until when an automatic stop of the engine is permitted.
System for controlling an internal combustion engine
System for controlling an internal combustion engine, the system comprising stop means to stop automatically an internal combustion engine according to a predefined operating condition of the internal combustion engine, verification and/or restoration means to verify or to restore a first component of the internal combustion engine, learning means to learn a control variable of a second component of the internal combustion engine, inhibition means of the stop means to prevent/ignore an engine stop, wherein only the verification and/or restoration means, when activated, are suitable to cause an activation of the inhibition means, and wherein the learning means are enabled to activate only when the verification and/or restoration means are active.
