Footwear, such as a skate (e.g., a hockey skate), comprising a boot (e.g., a skate boot) or other foot-receiving structure configured to receive a user's foot, in which the boot or other foot-receiving structure is designed to enhance performance, including a range of motion of the user and energy transfer (e.g., to a skating surface while skating or otherwise moving on the skating surface), fit on the user's foot, and/or comfort of the user, such as by having articulated, thermoformable and/or removable parts that may have desired properties in selected regions.

A blade for an ice skate (e.g., for playing hockey). The ice skate comprises a skate boot for receiving a foot of a user and a blade holder for holding the blade. The blade may be designed to be lightweight yet strong and possibly provide other performance benefits to the user, including by being made of different materials (e.g., at least three different materials) that are strategically arranged and secured to one another.

A multi-degree of freedom ice skate post that connects an ice skate blade to the sole of an ice-skating boot generally comprises a plurality of adjustable elements that include a pronate/supinate platform, a bi-directional module and a side/side module. In some configurations, the pronate/supinate platform is configured to move the ice skate blade in a pronate and supinate direction. In some configurations the pronate supinate platform is connected with the bi-directional module providing movement of the ice skate blade in the fore and aft position. In some configurations the side/side module is connected with the bi-directional module providing movement in a side by side direction. Additional configurations can include vertical adjustments as well.

A skate (e.g., an ice skate) for a skater (e.g., a hockey player). The skate comprises a skate boot for receiving a foot of the skater and a skating device (e.g., a blade and 5 a blade holder) disposed beneath the skate boot to engage a skating surface (e.g., ice). At least part of the skate boot and optionally at least part of one or more other components (e.g., the skating device) may be constructed from one or more materials (e.g., foams) molded by flowing in molding equipment during a molding process (e.g., injection molding or casting). This may allow the skate (or other 0 footwear) to have useful performance characteristics (e.g., reduced weight, proper fit and comfort, etc.) while being more cost-effectively manufactured. A skate (e.g., an ice skate) for a user (e.g., a hockey player). The skate comprises a skate boot for receiving a foot of the user and a skating device (e.g., a blade and a blade holder) disposed beneath the skate boot to engage a skating surface. The skate boot may be constructed by molding (e.g., injection molding) so as to have useful performance and/or characteristics (e.g., reduced weight; enhanced fit, comfort and range of motion; enhanced appearance; etc.) while being cost-effectively manufactured.

An ice skate blade assembly for a skate, includes a blade holder that releasably receives an ice skate blade therein. The blade has first and second hooks projecting upwardly from respective first and second ends of the blade. The holder has a bridge portion with a groove to receive the main portion of the blade therein and first and second pedestals at either end of the bridge portion with cavities to receive the first and second hooks therein. An actuator mounted within the second pedestal includes a hook-receiving portion slidably movable along a curved sliding path between one end portion parallel to the longitudinal axis of the assembly in a locked position retaining the second hook thereon and an opposing released position. The actuator is recessed into the pedestal and includes a tool receiving aperture so that a tool is used to displace the actuator.

A training ice skate with support components that can offer built-in balance support and can teach proper form to a user who is learning to ice skate. More specifically, the training ice skate can include a boot mount having a base, a blade housing configured to house a blade, and a plurality of support mounts. The base can be configured to attach to a bottom of a boot, the blade housing can be centered on the base and configured to house a center blade, and the plurality of support mounts can be comprised of a plurality of side rail housings at non-center locations on the base that are configured to house a corresponding side rails.

A goalie skate for a hockey goalkeeper. The goalie skate may comprise a skate boot for receiving a foot of the hockey goalkeeper, a blade for contacting ice, and a blade holder between the skate boot and the blade. The skate boot comprises an outer shell comprising a synthetic material. The goalie skate may be cowlingless.

A removeable off-ice training blade for use in a convertible ice skate on a non-ice training surface. The blade has an upper retention surface shaped to engage the interior of a blade-holding groove and retention mechanism of the skate and has a lower tread to engage the non-ice training surface. Two side surfaces extend substantially perpendicularly from the lower tread to meet the upper retention surface. The tread surface comprises reflective non-cutting axial edges, to negate any destruction of the non-ice training surface during use of the blade. Certain embodiments of the training blade will include a tread surface that is wider than the upper retention surface, achieved with multiple lower profiles and cross-sections of the blade. Insofar as the training blade will not permit on-ice skating use, it can be removed from the skate for replacement with an ice blade having cutting edges. A skate incorporating the blade, and a related exercise method, are also disclosed.

A hockey skate includes a fiber-reinforced, composite frame, or an injected plastic frame, including a boot form and integral pedestals that serve as a blade-holder. The pedestals are integral with the bottom of the boot sole and are optionally spaced relatively far apart to provide a long span between them. An optional bridge assembly may be used to connect the blade to the pedestals. The bridge assembly may provide increased stiffness and vibration damping, as well as customized fit options.
