In some configurations, the pronate/supinate platform is configured to move the ice skate blade in a pronate and supinate direction. In some configurations the pronate supinate platform is connected with the bi-directional module providing movement of the ice skate blade in the fore and aft position. In some configurations the side/side module is connected with the bi-directional module providing movement in a side by side direction. A roller mounting apparatus for an in-line roller skate blade comprises a body having a footware connector portion, a spacing portion adjacent the footware connector portion and a roller mounting portion adjacent the spacing portion. The roller mounting portion has roller mounts for mounting a plurality of rollers in tandem spaced apart positions such that contact points on outer surfaces of the rollers will lie on a first common curved line having no portion with a radius of curvature more than about 10 m, so that a contact point on a surface of a roller immediately adjacent to any given roller is spaced apart between about 0.1 mm to about 13 mm from a line tangent to the curved line at a point defined by the contact point of the given roller. A roller blade comprising the roller mounting apparatus is also disclosed. There is also disclosed a method of sharpening an outer circumferential surface of a rotatable roller of a roller blade by causing an outer circumferential surface of a rotating grinding implement to contact the outer circumferential surface of the rotatable roller at a contact point such that a grinder plane containing the contact point and a rotation axis of the rotating grinding implement is disposed at an angle to a roller plane containing the contact point and a rotational axis of the roller. Also disclosed is a method of sharpening an outer circumferential surface of a rotatable roller by causing an outer circumferential surface of a rotating grinding implement to contact the outer circumferential surface of the rotatable roller such that the rotating grinding implement tends to drive the roller in a first direction of rotation while causing a contact surface of a rotating drive wheel to contact the roller to cause the roller to rotate in a second direction against the first direction of rotation to cause relative movement between the roller and the outer circumferential surface of the grinding implement.

A hockey skate includes a fiber-reinforced, composite frame, or an injected plastic frame, including a boot form and integral pedestals that serve as a blade-holder. The pedestals are integral with the bottom of the boot sole and are optionally spaced relatively far apart to provide a long span between them. An optional bridge assembly may be used to connect the blade to the pedestals. The bridge assembly may provide increased stiffness and vibration damping, as well as customized fit options.

A skate riser as described herein can include adjustable offset capability or static offset capability. In the case of risers with static offset capability, presented herein are various skate riser systems that generally have a skate riser defined between a boot adapter mount end and a skate runner mount end, wherein the skate riser is not adjustable. The skate riser system further comprises a boot adapter mount that is connected to the boot adapter mount end. The boot adapter mount is configured to connect to a boot sole of a skate boot. A quick release shaft extends into a riser aperture in the riser between the ends. The quick release shaft comprises a key that retains a skate runner mount to the riser when in a first position/orientation but not when in a second position/orientation. Advantages of the static offset skate riser includes the ability to quickly swap out a blade with one configuration with a blade having a different configuration or simply just swapping out a blade.
