METHOD OF OPERATING A WIND TURBINE AND CONTROL SYSTEM
A method of operating a wind turbine wherein the wind turbine includes a doubly-fed induction generator that converts rotational mechanical power to electrical power. The method includes operating the wind turbine in a first operational mode in which a speed of a rotor of the wind turbine is controlled to maximize the power generation by the wind turbine. Upon a monitored parameter reaching or dropping below a respective threshold, the wind turbine is operated in a second operational mode. The monitored parameter may include at least one of the rotational speed of the rotor, the rotational speed of the doubly-fed induction generator, a wind speed, an active electrical power, or generator torque. Operating the wind turbine in the second operational mode may include increasing the rotational speed of the doubly-fed induction generator at the expense of the generation of active electrical power by the power generating system.

A method for identifying underperforming agents in a multi-agent cooperative system includes receiving information relating to the performance of each agent in the multi-agent system, calculating an estimated extracted resource value of each agent based on the received information, comparing the estimated extracted resource value of each agent to a threshold value, calculating a performance index based on the comparison and identifying an agent as an under-performing agent based on the performance index. A system for identifying under-performing agents in a plurality of agents in a multi-agent cooperative system includes a performance analyzing processor, a communications port for receiving state information for each agent and control information for each agent, a classifier for identifying a subset of agents in the plurality of agents that are performance comparable and an optimizer configured to identify an under-performing agent of performance comparable agents and generate updated control information for the identified under-performing agent.
System and Method for Assessing Farm-Level Performance of a Wind Farm
The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for assessing farm-level performance of a wind farm. The method includes operating the wind farm in a first operational mode and identifying one or more pairs of wind turbines having wake interaction. The method also includes generating a pairwise dataset for the wind turbines pairs. Further, the method includes generating a first wake model based on the pairwise dataset and predicting a first farm-level performance parameter based on the first wake model. The method also includes operating the wind farm in a second operational mode and collecting operational data during the second operational mode. Moreover, the method includes predicting a first farm-level performance parameter for the second operational mode using the first wake model and the operational data from the second operational mode. The method further includes determining a second farm-level performance parameter during the second operational mode. Thus, the method includes determining a difference in the farm-level performance of the wind farm as a function of the first and second farm-level performance parameters.
Method for selectively operating a wind turbine in accordance with an operating mode
A method of operating a wind power installation selectively in a first or second operating mode is disclosed. In the first operating mode, the installation generates as much electrical power as possible based on the prevailing wind and design of the wind power installation, and in the second operating mode generates less electrical power than in the first operating mode. The wind power installation is controlled in the first and second operating modes with first and second adjustment parameter sets, respectively. When the installation is operated in the second operating mode the maximum power which can be generated with the first adjustment parameter set or a differential power between the maximum power and a power currently generated in the second operating mode may be ascertained. The second adjustment parameter set may be selected based on a desired power reduction and the maximum power.

A method is disclosed for controlling a wind turbine generator to provide power above a rated level. The wind turbine includes one or more electrical components that conduct current from the internal generator to supply the external grid. The control method calculates the maximum current that the electrical components can carry at the ambient temperature. The calculated current is combined with a measurement of the voltage and an estimate of reactive power in the system to give a maximum power at which the wind turbine can operate without the maximum allowable current being exceeded for the electrical components. The electrical components may be housed in the main electrical panel of the wind turbine.
CONTROL A WIND TURBINE WITH A MODIFIED POWER REFERENCE
The invention relates to control of a wind turbine to address varying drivetrain loading. This is obtained by determining a modification signal to be set as a control signal. A signal indicative of a speed of the electrical generator a signal indicative of a requested output power are received. The signal indicative of a speed is filtering to isolate frequencies in a selected disturbance frequency band to generate a disturbance signal. The disturbance signal is phase shifted and combined with a requested output power to obtain the modification signal.
