An adaptor (166) for interfacing between an endpiece (38) of a lifting apparatus (30) and a nacelle (14) of a wind turbine (10). The adaptor (166) includes a base plate (174) having projections (204) configured to engage the adaptor (166) to the nacelle (14) and first and second side legs (176, 178) extending away from the base plate (174) opposite the projections (204) that define a recess (202) configured to engage the adaptor (166) with the endpiece (38) of the lifting apparatus (30). The adaptor (166) further includes first and second set screws (208, 210) positionable in bores (212) of the first and second side legs (176, 178) and movable to laterally adjust the position the adaptor (166) relative to the endpiece (38) of the lifting apparatus (30). This allows the lifting apparatus (30) to lift a nacelle assembly (24) having a laterally offset centre of gravity (158) in a balanced manner. A method for handling multiple wind turbine (10) components, including a nacelle (14), through selective use of the adaptor (166) is also disclosed.

Nacelle for a wind turbine

The invention relates to a wind turbine nacelle (2) configured for mounting on a wind turbine tower (3) and housing a rotor-supporting assembly supporting a rotor, the nacelle further housing a power conversion assembly, the nacelle comprising: a main unit (20, 101) arranged to be connected to the wind turbine tower (3) and housing the rotor-supporting assembly, andat least one auxiliary unit (21, 22, 102) housing an operative component (34, 35, 104) forming part of the power conversion assembly, wherein the main unit (20, 101) and the auxiliary unit (21, 22, 102) are separate units configured to be connected by a unit fixation structure at an interface, and wherein the at least one auxiliary unit has a first height in an assembled configuration and a second height in a transportation configuration, the first height being higher than the second height.

WIND TURBINE TOWER AND CARRIAGE

A wind turbine tower elevator carriage for clamping onto at least a first tower rail extending up a wind turbine tower to releasably support the carriage on the first tower rail, the elevator carriage comprising: a carriage body, independently operable first and second releasable rail clamps and a lifting mechanism for raising and lowering the carriage body with respect to the first releasable rail clamp.

Modular nacelle with storable support assembly for supporting wind turbine components and related methods

A main nacelle unit (22) for forming a nacelle (14) of a wind turbine (10) includes a main housing (28) having an outer wall (30a, 30b) and containing a base frame (52) configured to be attached to a tower (12) of the wind turbine (10). The main nacelle unit (22) also includes at least one support frame (56) configured to support a wind turbine component (54) external to the main housing (28). A portion of the support frame (56) is attached to the base frame (52) and movable between a stored position and a deployed position. In the stored position, the portion of the support frame (56) is configured to be positioned within the confines of the main housing (28), and in the deployed position, the portion of the support frame (56) is configured to extend through the main housing outer wall (30a, 30b) to support the wind turbine component (54) external to the main housing (28). A method of assembling a wind turbine using the support assembly is also disclosed.

A base assembly configured to support a tower mounted crane on a nacelle of the wind turbine, said tower mounted crane being of the kind comprising a base portion and a boom arm, where the boom arm is arranged rotatably about a vertical axis relative to the base portion during normal operation of the tower mounted crane, said base assembly includes a base structure adapted to be mounted to the nacelle, and a support structure configured to engage with the tower mounted crane and support the tower mounted crane in an upright position. In an engagement of the tower mounted crane with the base assembly, a base portion of the tower mounted crane is attached to the support structure. The support structure is movably coupled to the base structure and is adapted to be displaced linearly relative to the base structure in a direction substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the nacelle to arrange the tower mounted crane at a plurality of crane mounting positions relative to the nacelle.
