Power Generator
An energy-saving power generator for generating a power by rotating a rotary member is described. A power generator 100 for generating a power by rotating a rotary member 10, comprising: opposing columns 20 (21, 22) for supporting the power generator 100; one or more movable inclined members 40 inclined from one column 21 to other column 22 for rotating the rotary member 10 and capable of ascending and descending along the columns by one or more roller members 30 arranged at opposite ends of the movable inclined members 40 and by roller receiving members 35 provided at the columns 20 (21, 22); and one or more fixed inclined members 60 inclined from the other column 22 to the one column 21 for rotating the rotary member 10 and provided at the columns 20 (21, 22) or at supporting members 50 for supporting the columns.
Energy storage and delivery system and method
An energy storage and delivery system includes a crane operable to move blocks from a lower elevation to a higher elevation to store energy (e.g., via the potential energy of the block in the higher elevation) and operable to move blocks from the higher elevation to the lower elevation (e.g., by gravity) to generate electricity (e.g., via the kinetic energy of the block when moved to the lower elevation). The blocks remain vertically spaced from each other, and a vertical distance between the lower elevation and the higher elevation of each of the blocks is the same.
POWER TRANSMISSION SYSTEM
A power transmission assembly includes a base, a rotating frame rotatably coupled to the base and configured to rotate about an axis, an output shaft coupled to the rotating frame, a weight selectively repositionable relative to the rotating frame, and a weight actuator configured to reposition the weight relative to the rotating frame to move the weight from a subtraction position located at a first height to an addition position located at a second height. The second height is greater than the first height such that a gravitational force on the weight drives the rotating frame to rotate about the axis and drive the output shaft.
GRAVITATIONAL POTENTIAL ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A gravitational energy storage system is provided that includes one or more tracks extending from a lower storage yard to an upper storage yard, a plurality of mass cars moveable along the track, a conveyance system comprising at least a first tether, and a first power module associated with the first tether to drive a respective one of the first tethers to move the plurality of mass cars from the lower storage yard to the upper storage yard, and to dispatch energy when the plurality of mass cars are moved from the upper storage yard to the lower storage yard.
Energy Storage and Recovery System
An electric energy storage and recovery system is provided to store electric energy from a generator when it is not required for the electric power grid. The system employs a controller to switch a generator between operating as an electric motor in power storage mode and operating as a generator in a power generation mode. A weight engaged to a distal end of a cable may be wound upon a reel by the generator when operating as an electric motor. The weight, in an elevated position, will pull the cable from the reel to rotate the generator and produce electric power when operating in power generation mode.
Energy storage and delivery system and method
An energy storage and delivery system includes an elevator cage, where the elevator cage is operable to move one or more blocks from a lower elevation to a higher elevation to store energy (e.g., via the potential energy of the block in the higher elevation) and operable to move one or more blocks from the higher elevation to the lower elevation (e.g., by gravity) to generate electricity (e.g., via the kinetic energy of the block when moved to the lower elevation). The blocks are moved between the lower elevation and the higher elevation by an equal vertical distance.
Elevator cage for energy storage and delivery system
An elevator cage is used in an energy storage and delivery system to move blocks between a lower elevation of a tower and a higher elevation of a tower to store energy and to move blocks between a higher elevation of the tower and a lower elevation of the tower under force of gravity to generate electricity. The elevator cage removably receives a block thereon and supports the block on at least three sides.
Energy storage and delivery method
A method for energy storage and delivery includes operating a pair of elevator cages to move blocks between a first set of rows in an upper section of the frame and a corresponding second set of rows in a lower section of the frame. The elevator cages move blocks from alternating rows of the second set of rows to corresponding alternating rows of the first set of rows to store electrical energy corresponding to a potential energy of said blocks and move blocks from alternating rows of the first set of rows to corresponding alternating rows of the second set of rows under a force of gravity to generate electricity via an electric motor-generator electrically coupled to the elevator cages. The elevator cages move said blocks between each of the second set of rows and each of the corresponding first set of rows by an equal vertical distance.
System and method for storing and releasing energy
An energy storage and generation device is coupled to a source of energy, preferably green energy, and an energy storage and generation elevator that is configured for allowing the raising and lowering of one or more weights disposed on the energy storage and generation elevator from a lower position to a raised position, the raised position higher than the lower position. A first energy and storage elevator movement mechanism is configured for raising and lowering the energy storage and generation elevator while a second energy and storage elevator movement mechanism is configured for causing the energy generator to generate electrical energy when the energy storage and generation elevator including one or more weights moves from the raised position to the lower position with one or more of the weights disposed on the energy storage and generation elevator.
Energy storage system using earth materials
An energy storage system stores power received from a power grid as potential energy in compressed earth materials. The energy storage system includes a motor-generator coupled to an anchor via a tensile member. The motor-generator is configured to apply a tensile force to the tensile member. The tensile force causes the motor-generator and the anchor to apply a compression force to the earth materials in the ground, and causes the anchor to displace, thereby storing the received power as potential energy. The energy storage system provides power to the power grid by relieving some of the tensile force on the tensile member and thereby relieving some of the compression force on the earth materials. The anchor displaces towards its original position, and thereby causes the motor-generator to generate electrical power from the stored potential energy.
