Hot beverage maker with cleaning apparatus and related method

A hot beverage maker is provided with a removable pump for cleaning a brewing needle. The pump fits into a brewing chamber which normally receives a pod of an infusible beverage material. A pod receptacle and a lid pivotally connected to the housing form the brewing chamber. After a brewing cycle or when cleaning of the brewing needle is desired, an interior chamber of the pump is filled with cleaning fluid and the pump inserted into the pod receptacle. When the lid is closed, the brewing needle is inserted into the interior chamber. The lid is closed and released repeatedly to operate the pump. This creates a pumping action of the cleaning fluid through the brewing needle to dislodge a buildup of minerals or residual deposits. The used cleaning fluid and dislodged deposits are discarded after the cleaning operation is completed.

The at least one movable seal is movable in a pump direction from the inlet to the outlet by a movement of the eccentric to pump the fluid along the pump path. The pump has at least one adjustable axial calibrating device, by which the deformable element is clamped in the axial direction parallel to the axle.

Fluid control device

A fluid control device includes a piezoelectric actuator and a deformable substrate. The piezoelectric actuator includes a piezoelectric element and a vibration plate. The piezoelectric element is attached on a surface of the vibration plate. The piezoelectric element is subjected to deformation in response to an applied voltage. The vibration plate is subjected to a curvy vibration in response to the deformation of the piezoelectric element. The deformable substrate includes a flexible plate and a communication plate, which are stacked on each other. Consequently, a synchronously-deformed structure is defined by the flexible plate and the communication plate collaboratively. There is a specified depth between the flexible plate and the vibration plate. The flexible plate includes a movable part corresponding to the vibration plate.

PUMP DIAPHRAGM

A pump diaphragm for a diaphragm pump for conveying a fluid includes a solid core with a connection device for a drive rod of the diaphragm pump, and a plate-shaped elastic diaphragm body made of rubber having a peripheral clamping edge. The solid core is embedded at least partially in the diaphragm body and the solid core is produced from a thermoplastic and forms covalent bonds with the elastic diaphragm body made of rubber without adhesive. For this purpose, the thermoplastic, for example polyamide 612 or polyphenylene ether, and the rubber, a periodically cross-linked rubber such as EPDM, are selected in such a way that they are covalently cross-linked with one another at the boundary layer. In this way, a bonding layer that is susceptible to weakening or destruction is not present between the core and the diaphragm body.

DOUBLE MEMBRANE FOR A DUST PUMP

A double membrane for a diaphragm pump for fluidizing, covering and conveying dusty products, such as, for example, pulverized coal, with the aid of an inert gas at pressures of up to 7 MPa, the diaphragm pump having a porous, curved loosening element made from aluminum, monitors and ensures the membrane tightness by designing the double membrane with an integrated pressure sensor for monitoring leakages. A hermetically tight separation between the hydraulic chamber and dust chamber of the diaphragm pump can therefore be ensured and damage to the membrane can be promptly identified. Complicated repair and cleaning measures of the entire dust system or hydraulic system in the event of membrane damage are prevented and the tightness of the membrane is maintained during the incident. Particular refinements relate to the composition of the individual membranes and the interaction thereof.

Sealing diaphragm and methods of manufacturing said diaphragm

Described is a method for manufacturing a diaphragm assembly through the use of injection molding. The method can avoid the use of PTFE as a chemically resistant coating. Further, the method can increase overall adherence of a polymer diaphragm to an insert through the use of an interference surface on at least the surface of a head of the insert.

The puller has a diaphragm end, a cam end, a puller body extending between the diaphragm end and the cam end along a puller longitudinal axis, and a first retaining ledge extending laterally from the puller body with respect to the puller longitudinal axis.
