Hanger Snowboard Binding and Method
20200391097 · 2020-12-17 ·

A snowboard binding that enables a snowboard to hang nearly vertically on a user's foot includes a board base attachable to a snowboard, the board base having a generally planar configuration and a hinge, a hardened boot attachable to the user's foot, the hardened boot having a first lateral side and a second lateral side. The hinge attaches the first lateral side of the hardened boot to the board base and a latch attached to the second lateral side. The hinge and latch cooperate to enable the snowboard binding to selectively move from a first configuration where the latch engages both the board base and the hardened boot and align to align the hardened boot and the board base in a planar arrangement, to a second configuration where the latch releases the board base from the hardened boot.

A binding apparatus for a snowboard is provided including a base plate having a pivot portion, an elongate arm member, and a cuff member for receiving a portion of a rider's boot or leg. The base plate may be affixed to the snowboard such that a boot may be coupled to a footbed thereof at an angle relative to the lateral axis of the snowboard. The elongate arm member is pivotably coupled to the pivot portion of the base plate at a first end portion thereof, and the cuff member is coupled to the elongate arm member. The elongate arm member is configured to pivotably rotate about an axis of rotation of the pivot portion such that the elongate arm member and cuff member coupled thereto are capable of moving fore and aft of a lateral axis of a snowboard.

Snowboard binding and boot

A snowboard boot and binding system is disclosed which facilitates the engagement and disengagement of a snowboard boot and binding. The snowboard boot may include a boot engagement member extending from a rear of the boot. The boot engagement member is moved downwardly into a corresponding binding engagement member to provide an arrangement which prevents forward movement of the boot. The boot engagement member also may include one or more serrations to engage with one or more pawls on the binding to prevent upward movement of the boot. A snap-in arrangement may be provided in a boot toe region. The boot has protrusions extending outwardly from each side of the boot to engage with catches on the binding sidewalls. As the boot is pressed downwardly into the binding, the protrusions splay the catches until reaching recesses, at which point the catches rebound to capture the protrusions against upward movement.

COUPLING ASSEMBLY BETWEEN A FOOTWEAR AND A SPORT EQUIPMENT SUCH AS A SKI OR A SNOWBOARD

There is provided herein and improved step in binding having a body and a footplate pivotally coupled therein at the front. A levered high back exposes load arms which are interfaced to the pivotable footplate by way of linkages. When the footplate is depressed, the linkages transition horizontally, thereby increasing rearward force and therefore leverage on the backplate, until substantially horizontally engaged. At this orientation, the linkages experiences little or no vertical vector component thereby preventing inadvertent unbinding.

An apparatus for gliding over snow is disclosed. The apparatus comprises at least two decks coupled via a swivel arm. Each deck comprises a strap to receive a foot of a user, and a board coupled to the deck via a connector. The user stands on the decks to create swivel-motion with the help of the swivel arm. The swivel-motion created at the deck is transferred to the connector and to the board to create forward momentum and glide the board over the snow.
