A monitoring system may include a strain gauge, a position sensor, and a torque sensor. The strain gauge may measure strain in a chamber of the pressure pump and generate a strain signal representing the strain measurement. The position sensor may measure a position of a rotating member and generate a position signal representing the position measurement. The torque sensor may measure torque in a component of the pressure pump and generate a torque signal representing the torque measurement. The torque measurement may be used with the strain measurement and the position measurement to determine a condition of the pressure pump.

Methods and systems for preventing premature compressor failure from improper operation

Methods and systems for detecting and correcting improper operation of a compressor in a refrigeration system and/or an HVAC system include a component level detection and prevention and a system level detection and prevention. The system level detection and prevention can be a backup or a confirmation of the component level detection and prevention. The component level detection and prevention can detect and prevent improper compressor operation within a predetermined time so that the compressor's operation period in an improper direction can be minimized, thereby minimizing wear and damage to the compressor.

The disclosure relates to compressors for heat exchange systems, heat exchange systems having such compressors, and methods for controlling operation of compressors. The compressor includes a drive device for driving the compressor and having at least a first and second working conditions. An output power of the drive device under the second working condition is greater than an output power under the first working condition. The compressor has at least one upload/download flow path configured to be opened before the drive device is switched from the first working condition to the second working condition to reduce a suction flow of the compressor until current operating parameters of the compressor reach preset values, after which the switching is performed, and to increase the suction flow until the compressor is in a required working state, after the switching is completed.

Active hydraulic ripple cancellation methods and systems

Presented herein are systems and methods for attenuating flow ripple generated by a hydraulic pump. In certain aspects, a method and system for operating a hydraulic positive displacement pump according to a stabilized command profile are disclosed, such that flow ripple generated by operation of the pump according to the stabilized command profile is attenuated as compared to operation of the pump according to a corresponding nominal command profile. In other aspects, a pressure-balanced active buffer is disclosed that allow for at least partially cancelling flow ripple in a hydraulic circuit comprising a pump. In another aspect, a method for generating ripple maps for a pump is disclosed. Such ripple maps may be used, for example, to determine the stabilized command profile used to operate the pump, or may be used by the pressure-balanced active buffer to counteract ripple in the hydraulic circuit.

A monitoring and control apparatus communicates with an electrical drive of a subsurface artificial lift system to identify, predict and mitigate against failure of the artificial lift system. A monitoring and control apparatus: reads torque signals from the electrical drive or from a measurement device, produces a filtered torque signal; identifies frequency components of the filtered torque signal; compares the frequency components of the filtered torque signal with frequency components of a reference torque signal indicative of a healthy state of a pump motor of the artificial lift system to identify harmful frequencies in the filtered torque signal and generate a failure prediction index representing the likelihood of failure in comparison to a stable operation status; and then send a control signal to the electrical drive to adjust a frequency response of the pump motor so that the identified harmful frequency component is dampened.
