Liquid ring systems are known for compressing gasses. However, known systems include moving surfaces that require high precision manufacturing. A valve arrangement for a liquid ring system comprising: a plurality of plates; a vane set; and a chamber set that comprises at least one chamber, wherein a first chamber of the chamber set comprises: a first valve, disposed on a first plate of the plurality of plates, which is configured to be closer to the first face of a first vane of the vane set than the second face of the second vane of the vane set; and a second valve, disposed on a second plate, which is configured to be closer to the second face of the second vane than the first face of the first vane.

Port plate of a flat sided liquid ring pump having a gas scavenge passage therein

A liquid ring pump includes a planar port plate having first and second planar walls, a sidewall which defines a shaft receiving aperture, an inlet, and an outlet. An opening is formed in the port plate and includes an open end that extends through the sidewall and an open face that extends through the first planar wall. A rotor shaft is rotatable about a central axis and is positioned such that a portion of the rotor shaft extends into the shaft receiving aperture. An aperture is formed in the port plate and positioned substantially opposite the opening. The opening, a space defined between the rotor shaft and the sidewall, and the aperture, cooperate to define a channel that extends between a first side of the shaft receiving aperture and a second side of the shaft receiving aperture, wherein the channel is formed entirely coplanar with the port plate.

Bearing arrangement and wear indicator for a liquid ring vacuum pump

A liquid-ring vacuum pump comprises a pump casing and a shaft eccentrically mounted in the pump casing. An impeller and a rotor of a drive motor are connected to the shaft. A disk cam is arranged parallel to the impeller. A first main bearing for the shaft is arranged between the impeller and the rotor of the drive motor, on the plane of the disk cam. The impeller is arranged between the first main bearing and a second main bearing. The arrangement of the bearings prevents the shaft from bending, thus allowing the leakage gap between the impeller and the disk cam to be kept small.

A liquid ring pump is provided. The liquid ring pump is designed to reduce the overall envelop of the ring pump. The liquid ring pump includes a housing and an impeller. The housing defines an impeller cavity. The impeller cavity has an inlet port and a discharge port. The impeller is positioned within the impeller cavity for rotation about a central rotational axis. The impeller includes a central hub defining a conical outer surface and a plurality of angularly spaced apart main vanes extending radially outward from the conical outer surface relative to the central rotational axis. The inlet and discharge ports may be located on a same side of the impeller housing.

Port plate of a flat sided liquid ring pump having a gas scavenge passage therein

A liquid ring pump includes a port plate coupled to a pump head. The port plate has an opening with a first end at a first section and a second end at a second section. The first section opens through a portion of a surface forming a first face of the port plate. The second section opens at the second end into a shaft receiving aperture of the port plate. The first and second sections are continuous. The first section is angularly between the closing edge of a port plate outlet and leading edge of a port plate inlet. A length measured from the first section to the inlet's leading edge is less than a length measured from the first section to the outlet's leading edge. The first section does not open into the outlet or inlet.

A fluid ring compressor comprises a first single-acting compression stage having a first impeller eccentrically mounted in a housing and a second single-acting compression stage having a second impeller eccentrically mounted in a housing. The first compression stage and the second compression stage are separated from one another by a sealing gap. The sealing gap is arranged between a suction section of the first compression stage and a suction section of the second compression stage.

Liquid ring pump with modular construction, an inter-stage bypass and overload protection

A modular liquid ring pump has a liquid ring overload protection system including a passage from a working chamber directly to the pump discharge passage and a mechanical relief valve configured to release liquid from the working chamber during compressor overload. The liquid ring pump, when configured to have two stages, has an inter-stage by-pass system that includes an opening in an inter-stage passage and a pressure sensitive mechanical valve that allows the discharge of a first stage compressor to flow directly to the pump discharge at start up or during low pressure operation. The liquid ring pump's modular construction may be easily configured from a single stage pump to a two-stage pump and vice versa by using the same bearings, head, and drive system and only changing the body, cone, and rotor.
