A watersports paddle includes an elongated handle body having a first material, a biased member having a second material more flexible than the first material such that the biased member is more flexible than the elongated handle body, and a paddle blade coupled to the biased member opposite the elongated handle body. The biased member deforms when a force is applied to the biased member with the elongated handle body by pulling the paddle blade through water and reforms when the force is not applied to the biased member by the elongated handle body to store and release energy during use of the watersports paddle. The biased member may be a substantially planar leaf spring or a bowed leaf spring.

Hollow wall curable and cured composite tubes for improving performance in sports shafts, lightweight applications, and lightweight structural members, are described herein and include: a constituent tube, for forming the hollow wall composite tube, that comprises an evacuable flexible core component on which to wind or braid filaments or fabric, and at least one braid filament or at least one fabric for providing a reinforcing fiber matrix for saturation with an epoxy material, spirally wrapped, applied or braided on the flexible core component. Methods for producing and using the same are also disclosed herein.

Tubular carbon fiber reinforced composite material and golf club shaft

Provided are tubular carbon fiber reinforced composite material and having excellent cylindrical bending strength and a golf club shaft using the same. This tubular carbon fiber reinforced composite material is formed by laminating and curing a straight layer and a bias layer. The straight layer comprises carbon fibers S coated with a sizing agent S and arranged in parallel in a direction of 20 to +20 with respect to the axis of the tubular body, and contains a thermosetting resin S. The bias layer comprises carbon fibers B coated with a sizing agent B and arranged in parallel in a direction of +25 to +65 with respect to the axis of the tubular body, and contains a thermosetting resin B. The carbon fiber reinforced composite material constituting the bias layer has an interlaminar shear strength of not less than 110 MPa. A cured product of the thermosetting resin S has an elastic modulus of not less than 4.0 GPa.

SKI POWER MEASUREMENT SYSTEM

A system for measuring power generated by a skier is disclosed. The power generated by the skier may be calculated based upon each complete revolution of a ski pole or ski movement. To do so, the system may include various sensors that measure a force exerted on a ski pole or ski, the angle of the ski pole or ski, and the velocity of the skier at various time instants within each ski pole or ski revolution. A processing unit may calculate power generated by the skier in the skier's direction of travel using the force exerted in the skier's direction of travel during a complete revolution of ski pole (or ski) movement and the velocity of the skier.
