SUPERCHARGER WITH INTEGRATED CONTRACTION CHAMBER FOR NOISE ATTENUATION
A supercharger for a vehicle includes a lower body housing a compressor and an upper lid having a contraction chamber. The upper lid includes an air circulation port and is configured to be coupled to the lower body thereby forming a plenum. The contraction chamber is integrally formed in the upper lid adjacent to the air circulation port and includes an attenuator plate that defines a tuning neck. The tuning neck defines an inlet to and part of a volume of the contraction chamber, and includes a predetermined size and shape configured to attenuate a desired sound frequency generated by operation of the supercharger.
Scroll compressor with a shunt pulsation trap
A shunt pulsation trap for a scroll compressor reduces gas pulsations, NVH and improves off-design efficiency. Generally, a scroll compressor with the shunt pulsation trap has a pair of orbiting and stationary scrolls for forming a compression chamber that moves gas pockets from a suction port to a discharge port with internal compression. The shunt pulsation trap is configured to trap and attenuate as pulsations before the discharge port and comprises a pulsation trap chamber adjacent to the compression chamber, therein housed various gas pulsation dampening means or gas pulsation containment means, at least one trap inlet port branching off from the compression chamber into the pulsation trap chamber and a trap outlet port communicating with the compressor discharge chamber after the discharge port.
Compressor system with resonator
In one form, a compressor system includes a compressor, and an annular ring disposed downstream of the compressor and structured to reduce pressure fluctuations in the pressurized air discharged by the compressor. The annular ring may include an internal passage for conducting the pressurized air. The annular ring may include at least one resonator in fluid communication with the internal passage. Further embodiments, forms, features, aspects, benefits, and advantages of the present application will become apparent from the description and figures provided herewith.
