Skateboard Top With Integral Anti-Chipping / Anti-Delamination Reinforcement Layers

A skateboard top includes a laminate structure of a plurality of adhesive and press bonded wood veneers, with specified sections of some of the wood veneer layers removed and replaced with non-wood reinforcement layers integrated within the structure at both ends to increase durability through the prevention of wear and tear and impact related chipping and delamination. The usable life span of a typical skateboard comprising a plurality of wood veneer layers adhesively bonded into a single laminate structure is shortened by the impact chipping and following delamination of the skateboard which occurs during regular use. The disclosure discloses that by removing certain layers of wood and replacing with non-wood fiber reinforced layers comprised of a matrix of thermoset resin and multi-layer multi axial fiber reinforcements of glass or carbon or Kevlar, impact chipping is reduced and the durability and useable life span is increased.

This invention provides the novel application of securing a low friction polymer, such as, for example, UHMWPE as the exemplary embodiment, with a coefficient of friction of less than about 0.15, which has adjustable margins for length, height, and width, on the bottom of a skateboard, between the bottom of the skateboard and the wheels with the purpose of mitigating the problem of wheel bite in skateboarding. This piece may have a flat or shaped, concave surface, and can be attached to the skateboard with an adhesive, by embedding the material in the skateboard, or by other known methods.

The mounting plate is used to attach to the top deck of the skateboard or longboard using the existing truck hole mounting pattern. The clamp bottom will attach to the mounting plate and the clamp top will attach to the clamp bottom with an accessory secured between the clamp bottom and top. It is understood that the pieces of the clamp can be attached using various methods and construction methods can vary. The purpose of this clamp is to allow the rider of a skateboard or longboard ability to attach accessories to a board. With the attachment of an accessory, a rider has the flexibility to customize their board to meet their needs and create a hybrid modular board.

A skateboard truck includes a metal bolt called a kingpin and a threaded fastener, called a hex nut, which when combined hold the two main components of a truck together: the baseplate, which is mounted to the bottom surface of the skateboard deck; and the turning part of the truck called the hanger, which is mounted onto the baseplate by means of the kingpin, and affixed tightly into the baseplate by means of a threaded shaft nut assembly permanently affixed within the baseplate. Two bushings placed along the shaft of the kingpin and on either side of a flange protruding from the hanger hold the hanger in place by the tightening of the kingpin into the threaded shaft nut fastener. The kingpin is oriented such that a threaded portion of the kingpin (on an end opposite a bolt head portion) is generally facing towards a bottom surface of the skateboard deck.

The securing device, which is attached to a first ridge of the ridges, is configured to cross over the molded front panel to a second ridge of the ridges to secure the body of the personal transport vehicle between the ridges when present. The padded back panel is configured to rest against a backpack wearer's back. The shoulder strap system includes a pair of shoulder straps extending from a top portion of the back piece, across the back panel, and to a medial portion of the back panel.
