Variable displacement vane pump with integrated fail safe function

A variable displacement vane pump has a pressure controlled valve moveable between first and at least second valve positions based on an output pressure of the pressurized lubricant delivered through the outlet. The pressure controlled valve provides an integrated fail safe function to the pump when an electrical valve fails. The pressure controlled valve is inactive in the first position for an output pressure below a threshold level, allowing an electrical valve (current, solenoid, pulse width modulation (PWM) valve) to selectively control pressure in the control chamber under normal operation of the pump. In fail safe regulation mode, the electrical valve function is disabled and the pressure controlled valve is active in its second position, controlling pressure in the control chamber. Channels and vents in the pump can be opened and closed based on selective movement of the valve when the outlet pressure is at or above a threshold level.

A high side compressor system includes a compressor housing, motor, and a compression chamber. The compression chamber is disposed within the compressor housing. An accumulator is fluidly coupled to the compressor housing via a pressure-equalization tube. A pressure-equalization valve is disposed in the pressure-equalization tube. The pressure-equalization valve closes access to the pressure-equalization tube responsive to an electrical current being applied to the pressure-equalization valve. The pressure-equalization valve is electrically coupled to a compression mechanism such that interruption of electrical current to the compression mechanism interrupts electrical current to the pressure-equalization valve thereby opening the pressure-equalization valve

Claw pump

A claw pump includes: a housing; two rotating shafts which are disposed parallel; a pair of rotors respectively fixed to the two rotating shafts; a rotary drive device driving the pair of rotors; and a suction port and discharge ports formed in a partition wall of the housing. The discharge ports are constituted by a first discharge port and a second discharge port. The first discharge port is formed at a position that communicates with an initial stage compression space formed at an initial stage of a compression stroke in a compression space that is formed by joining a first pocket and a second pocket. The claw pump includes an opening/closing mechanism which opens the first discharge port when a pressure of the initial stage compression space reaches a threshold and closes the first discharge port when the pressure does not reach the threshold.

A variable displacement pump can include a rotor having a plurality of vanes, and a cam ring surrounding the rotor and vanes. The vanes can be configured to extend from the rotor and contact an inner cam surface of the cam ring. The pump can also include one or more radial actuators configured to apply a radial force to the cam ring to control a position of the cam ring and the pumping action.

Variable displacement oil pump

A variable displacement oil pump for an internal combustion engine includes a pump element to vary inside volumes of pumping chambers to suck and discharge an oil, a varying mechanism to vary a pumping volume variation quantity of the pumping chambers, with movement of a movable member such as a cam ring, an urging mechanism to urge the movable member in a direction to increase the pumping volume variation quantity, first and second control oil chambers to urge the movable member to vary the pumping volume variation quantity, and a control mechanism, such as a pilot valve, to control the supply/drainage of the oil to or from the second control oil chamber. An operation oil pressure of the movable member is set higher than an operation oil pressure of the control mechanism in a higher pressure region.

ELECTRO-MECHANICAL CONTROLLER FOR ADJUSTING PUMP STROKE ON-THE-GO

An electro-mechanical controller is provided for adjusting the pump-stroke in a variety of variable-rate positive displacement piston pumps. The electro-mechanical controller can be attached to work with existing pumps or, in some embodiments, can be integrated into the pump. Using a linear actuator coupled to a pair of nested gears, the actuation of the linear actuator can be transferred into a rotating motion capable of rotating the pump setting adjustment, allowing for on-the-go adjustment of the pump-stroke in the variable-rate positive displacement piston pump. The electro-mechanical controllers can be particularly useful in agricultural settings to adjust the amount of fertilizer applied to the soil in response to a variety of inputs such as the GPS or map data, or a signal from a sensor indicating the amount of nitrogen in the soil or plant.

Variable displacement transmission pump and controller with adaptive control

A variable displacement transmission pump having a controller for adjusting the displaced volume, which controller actuates corresponding adjuster actuators of the adjustable pump via a control valve, so that the pump can be adjusted from minimum to maximum displaced volume in order to achieve a constant pump outlet pressure for supplying a hydraulically operated transmission, wherein for different operating points of both the adjustable pump and the transmission, the input variables of the controller are adjusted in such a way that, independently of the individual operating points, the overall damping of the control system comprising pump and transmissionthat is, using corresponding influence variables from these systemscan be maintained substantially constant under variable operating conditions by means of adjustable controller amplification.

Scroll compressor having capacity varying valves
