ROTARY MACHINE

A rotary machine is provided with a plurality of impellers (3) which have a disk (31) rotating with a rotary shaft (2), the impellers being arranged side by side; and a casing (4) in which a casing flow passage (43) is formed to distribute a working medium therein. An impeller (3) disposed farthest away from a second side in the axial direction is disposed in a space communicating with an upstream part of the casing flow passage (43), and a protrusion portion (5) protruding from a back side (311) of the disk (31). The protrusion portion (5) has a sealing surface (51) which is formed to be parallel to an outer surface (21) of the rotary shaft (2) to seal a gap between itself and the casing (4), and a pressure receiving surface (51) which extends from the outer surface (21) to the sealing surface (51).

A volute of a centrifugal pump includes a proximate section. The proximate section includes: an outer peripheral portion having a tapered shape such that, within a range of a rotational trajectory of each of vanes provided on an impeller, the outer peripheral portion gradually spreads out in a direction axially away from the vane; and an inner peripheral portion having a tapered shape such that, within the range of the rotational trajectory of each of the vanes, the inner peripheral portion tapers in the direction axially away from the vane. The inner and outer peripheral portions are spaced apart from each other with a flat proximal opposed surface portion therebetween. The opposed surface portion is opposed to respective axial end surfaces of vanes of the impeller. The volute also includes a peripheral wall surrounding the peripheral surfaces of the vanes.

A pump for pumping liquids containing entrained solids. The pump includes a volute surrounding an impeller comprising vanes that are self-cleaning. The outer surfaces of the vanes are coplanar and define a first plane and have a leading edge. The volute includes a planar mating surface defining a second plane parallel to the first plane of the rotary impeller. The planar mating surface is proximate to the outer surfaces of the vanes and includes a plurality of channels extending radially from the inner perimeter to the outer perimeter thereof. Each channel includes a forward edge in the direction of impeller rotation. The channels are oriented such that when the impeller is rotated within the volute, for any vane, the leading edge of the vane traverses each channel progressively from the inner end of the channel to the outer end of the channel.

The invention relates to a side-channel machine having a housing (4a), located in the housing (4a) a side-channel (28) for guiding a gas, and at least one gas inlet opening (34) which is formed in the housing (4a) and is fluidically connected to the side-channel (28). Furthermore, the side-channel machine has at least one gas inlet pipe (29a) which connects to the at least one gas inlet opening (34). The side-channel machine further comprises at least one gas outlet opening (33) and at least one gas outlet pipe (31a) which connects to the at least one gas outlet opening (33). Furthermore, the side-channel machine has an impeller that can be made to rotate in the housing (4a), with impeller blades, which bound impeller cells arranged in the side-channel (28), for delivering the gas in the impeller cells from the at least one gas inlet opening (34) to the at least one gas outlet opening (33). The side-channel machine further has at least one interrupter (39) arranged between the at least one gas inlet opening (34) and the at least one gas outlet opening (33).

In a centrifugal pump for delivering liquids in a motor vehicle, annular webs project into a gap seal between a housing part and a cover disc of a rotor. The webs are arranged on both components of the housing part and of the cover disc and delimit chambers which accelerate, decelerate and divert a flow. In this way, the gap seal has a high throttling action.

Shrouded fan impeller with reduced cover overlap

The described embodiments relate to improving efficiency of a low-profile cooling fan. In one embodiment, an impeller of the cooling fan includes a shroud which covers a central portion of the impeller, thereby allowing a central inlet portion of the blades to have an increased fan blade height when compared to a cooling fan constrained by minimum part tolerances between the fan blades and a portion of the fan housing. In some embodiments, the impeller includes splitter blades that can improve performance of the low-profile cooling fan.

Turbomachine

Leakage of a working fluid from a shaft sealing device of a turbomachine which handles a liquid as the working liquid is reduced and also unstable fluid force which acts on a rotor is reduced. For this purpose, the turbomachine has a rotor having an impeller, a bearing which rotatably supports the rotor, a casing which contains the rotor therein and forms a stationary flow passage, and the shaft sealing device which reduces the leakage of the working fluid through a gap part between the casing and the rotor. The working fluid is a liquid. A plurality of axial grooves which are intermittently arranged in axial direction and circumferential direction of the rotor with a land part being interposed are provided in an inner circumferential surface of the shaft sealing device.
