A hydrofoil impeller wherein the tip edge is straight and has a right angle with a radius extending from the central axis to the tip edge. In the central hub and in each of the blades the number of holes in each group of first and second holes is at least five. The pattern in which the holes are arranged in each of the respective groups of holes is elliptical having a center and a major axis which is substantially parallel to the radius and placed at a distance therefrom. The leading edge is, in the direction to rotation, behind an imaginary radial line intersecting the central axis of the shaft and the center of the ellipse, said leading edge being at an angle of 58°±2° in relation to the radial line. The area of the blade is divided into four planar portions by three straight bends.

The centrifugal pump according to this example additionally includes an impeller positioned on the shaft about the axial key, and a retaining ring positioned on the shaft about the axial key, a portion of the retaining ring extending into the recess for axially fixing the retaining ring relative to the axial key. The centrifugal pump according to this example further includes one or more fasteners attaching the retaining ring to the impeller, and a diffuser coupled about the shaft and proximate the impeller.

The power transmission shaft has a shaft end with tapered threads configured to couple directly to the impeller threads of the tapered bore of the impeller, to transmit torque directly through the tapered threads, and to provide self axial or radial alignment even if the coupling of the tapered threads and the impeller threads of the tapered bore start out of alignment. The tapered thread configuration substantially reduces investment in lifting equipment and time by maintenance personnel because it eliminates the need for maintenance personnel to precisely align the impeller threads and the tapered threads before attaching or removing the impeller and the tapered threads release much more quickly from the impeller than a standard thread configuration, reducing the number of turns the power transmission shaft must be rotated by hand to free it from the impeller.

The pumping apparatus can include an outboard seal radially surrounding an adapter shaft. The outboard seal can be retained in place by a front bracket at a front end of the outboard seal and a retention lip of the adapter shaft at a rear end of the outboard seal. The pumping apparatus can further include an inboard seal radially surrounding the adapter shaft and located between the outboard seal and the pump. The inboard seal can be retained in place by a rear bracket at a front end of the inboard seal.

The embodiments of the present invention can provide a sufficient liquid-circulation in a container, and significantly reduce the dead zone where the liquid flows extremely slowly.
