Adjustable compressor trim

An assembly can include a compressor housing, an adjustable wall disposed within the compressor housing that defines an air inlet to an inducer portion of a compressor wheel, and an adjustment mechanism to adjust the wall and thereby adjust at least a diameter of the air inlet. Various other examples of devices, assemblies, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

Fan

A fan includes a casing having an air inlet and an air outlet, an impeller housing located within the casing, an impeller located within the impeller housing for generating an air flow along a path extending from the air inlet to the air outlet through the impeller housing, a motor housing connected to the impeller housing, and a motor located within the motor housing for driving the impeller. A bellows support is provided for mounting the impeller housing within the casing. The bellows support is disposed on a seat connected to the casing. The bellows support extends about the impeller housing and forms a seal between the impeller housing and the casing.

The present application relates to the compressor stator of an axial turbomachine. The stator comprises an annular row of main stator blades and auxiliary blades each of which are associated with a main blade. The auxiliary blades are located at the trailing edges of the main blades and are in the vicinity of the pressure faces of the main blades. The auxiliary blades are aligned to generate a low-pressure area at the trailing edges of the main blades. Thus, a flow bypassing a main blade by its suction face is sucked in by the low-pressure area when it approaches the trailing edge of the main blade. Stalling is thus avoided and the efficiency of the machine is improved.

Compressor flowpath

A compressor section for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a low pressure compressor including a plurality of rotor blades arranged about an axis, a high pressure compressor, and a core flowpath passing through the low pressure compressor. The core flowpath at the low pressure compressor defines an inner diameter and an outer diameter relative to the axis. The outer diameter has a slope angle relative to the axis.

Turbomachine element

A turbomachine element including an airfoil set including a plurality of airfoils that are offset from one another in a lateral direction, and upstream from at least one end of each airfoil, a group of a plurality of vortex generator devices that are mutually offset both laterally and axially.

Compressor bleed self-recirculating system

A compressor for a gas turbine engine having a bleed air recirculation system includes a plurality of bleed holes extending through the shroud at a first axial location thereon substantially adjacent the blade tips. The bleed holes have a closed outer perimeter along their complete length. An annular bleed cavity surrounds the shroud and is in communication with outlet openings of the bleed holes. The bleed holes provide communication between the main gas flow passage and the bleed cavity. The bleed cavity includes exit passages having outlets disposed in the shroud at a second axial location which is upstream of both the first axial location and the leading edge of the blades of the rotor. Bleed air is passively bled from the main gas flow passage via the bleed holes, recirculated through the bleed cavity and re-injected back into the main gas flow passage at the second axial location.

Centrifugal compressor with casing treatment for surge control

A centrifugal compressor for compressing a fluid comprises a compressor wheel having a plurality of circumferentially spaced blades, and a compressor housing in which the compressor wheel is mounted. The compressor housing includes an inlet duct through which the fluid enters in an axial direction and is led by the inlet duct into the compressor wheel, and a wheel shroud located radially adjacent the tips of the blades. The wheel shroud has a port for bleeding off a portion of air flowing through the compressor. The bleed air enters an annular space, flows forward, and is injected back into the inlet flow through a plurality of circumferentially spaced slots defined through the wheel shroud. The slots are open at a leading edge of the wheel shroud.

The shroud includes: a flow passage, the flow passage formed to be recessed with respect to an inner surface of the shroud facing the blades; and a plurality of resonators provided in the flow passage.

A pump includes an axial inducer. The axial inducer includes a housing that has an internal surface that defines an axial fluid passage. A rotor is disposed about a central axis in the fluid passage. The rotor includes at least one blade that defines at least one blade tip. The internal surface of the housing defines a plurality of grooves adjacent the at least one blade tip. The grooves are elongated in a circumferential direction.

Synthetic jets in compressors

A synthetic jet for a stationary vane for a turbo-machine is disclosed. The synthetic jet includes a backside cavity and a jet cavity. The jet cavity includes a frontside cavity adjoining the backside cavity and a jet passage extending from a fluid stream interfacing surface of the airfoil towards the frontside cavity. The jet passage is in flow communication with the frontside cavity. The synthetic jet also includes a disk located between the backside cavity and the frontside cavity. The disk includes a cylindrical disk and a coating on each side of the cylindrical disk. The coating is a piezo electric ceramic material.
