A movable dasher board system optimizes user safety in a hockey rink or similar arena. A bottom structure, provided by a sliding bottom surface or roller assembly, has low friction characteristics, typically a .sub.s of 0.05 or less with respect to ice if a sliding surface, or if roller bearings an effective coefficient of rolling friction 0.04 or less. A dasher board assembly is operatively connected to and extends upwardly from the bottom structure. Biasing and impact force absorbing devices (such as pneumatic or hydraulic or spring-encasing telescoping tubes, or foam, gel, or compression springs) bias the bottom structure and dasher board assembly to a desired position and absorb the impact of a human hitting the dasher board assembly to minimize the possibility of injury to the human. The system may be installed in a pre-existing rink or other arena.

Embodiments described herein relate to a system which includes a first vertical support, a second vertical support parallel to the first vertical support, a third vertical support parallel to the first vertical support, and a fourth vertical support parallel to the first vertical support, a first, second, third, and fourth elevation couplers releasably attachable proximate an end of the corresponding vertical supports, a first, second, third, and fourth outer horizontal members releasably coupleable to extend between the elevation couplers perpendicular to the vertical supports, and first and second inner horizontal member extending between the outer horizontal members to be oriented substantially perpendicular to the vertical supports and overlap each other to form an elevated grid suitable for a game.

The safety component comprises a body portion connectable to a transparent barrier located above dasher boards of the skating rink, wherein upon impact the body portion is capable of at least partially absorbing impact forces. The safety component further comprises a curved rink-facing surface that provides a substantially convex curved surface facing the skating rink. The curved rink-facing surface has a radius of curvature suitable for redirecting the impact forces away from the convex curved surface.

There exists a number of youth development programs centered on sports programming. Some of these programs operate on a platform of revitalizing neighborhood spaces to improve community engagement by creating a space for youth to enjoy sports. Oftentimes these neighborhood spaces include restrictions or the surrounding community has needs (like lighting and seating) which are unmet or under-met. Envisioned is a system approach to addressing these needs wherein a wide variety of custom solutions can be produced from prefabricated, modular, and portable components that interface with existing amenities (if any) so to enrich the youth experience and better achieve program objectives. This modular approach provides a common infrastructure for different spaces, different sports, and different levels of play.

Rate of deceleration is an important factor in determining the severity of injuries possibly sustained when participants collide with a wall assembly while playing, for example, ice hockey. Decreasing the rate of deceleration of the participant during such a collision with a wall assembly, by extending the distance over which a participant decelerates, is a key factor in reducing head and spinal injuries. The present disclosure provides apparatuses for decreasing the rate of deceleration by providing a wall assembly having a moveable piece that includes a first position and a plurality of second positions with a bias of the moveable piece to the first position. The movable wall assembly can move independently of a support frame, thereby further decreasing the rate of deceleration of a participant in a collision. The movable wall assembly can be supported on a base and slidable with respect to the base.

Portable Multi-Use Ball Pit

A portable fenced-in ball playing area that includes a plurality of panels that have an upward slot on one end of the panel and a downward slot at the other end of the panel. The panels are assembled into a polygon shaped pit, such as for a Ga-ga pit, by fitment of upward and downward slots on adjacent panels. No tools are necessary for assembly. The panels can include hand holes for easy carrying. Some panels may have a top indentation or recess to assist children in entering or leaving the fenced-in ball playing area, such as a Ga-ga pit. These panels can be reversed so that the recess is facing downward to form a goal opening for a game using a ball, puck or the like.

A sporting field measurement system is disclosed wherein a user is prompted to select, on a mobile device, a field for marking from various sporting field types including, but not limited to football, baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, track, tennis, basketball, cricket, polo, rugby, Australian football, volleyball, and badminton. The Global National Satellite System (GNSS) or at least the global positioning system (GPS) is used to locate a user's device. An application displays, on a display, of the mobile device, the dimensions of the specified sporting field as an overlay on a map, generated by the positioning system and it will communicate with the GNSS or GPS of the device to allow the user to track his or her movement along a specified path of a proposed field. This will allow the user to place the appropriate markers and/or paint the field. Deviations from the path may be indicated on the display of the mobile device or by an audio indication generated by the mobile device.
