Assembly for Harnessing a Pendulum Motion from Fluid Wave Energy for Conversion to Power
20170067436 · 2017-03-09 ·

An assembly for harnessing a pendulum motion from fluid wave energy to convert to power. The assembly converts a fluid wave energy into electricity through a pendulum mechanism. The pendulum mechanism makes use of a buoyant sphere that floats in a fluid and absorbs wave energy, such as oscillations, vibrations, and disturbances known in wave energy, while floating in the fluid. A hemispherical pendulum swings in relation to the wave energy. The hemispherical pendulum transmits the swinging motion to an electrical generator for conversion to electricity. The harnessing of wave energy and swinging of the hemispherical pendulum is controlled through various components that balance and stabilize the assembly. The sphere comprises components to help control the irregularities from wave energy on the hemispherical pendulum through a directional guidance member, a velocity regulation member, and a stabilization member. A transmission cable transmits the electricity to a control center on shore.

Energy capture from oscillating object
12253068 · 2025-03-18 ·

A method for capturing energy from an oscillating object, in which at least one unbalanced rotor is oscillated to rotate the rotor(s) while reciprocally pivoting each of the rotor(s) about a respective counter-oscillation axis that is substantially perpendicular to both a rotation axis of the rotor and the oscillation axis for the oscillating object. Reciprocally pivoting the rotor(s) about the respective counter-oscillation axis urges the rotor to rotate continuously instead of reciprocally, and energy from rotation of the rotor can be captured, for example mechanically or electrically. Optionally, the counter-oscillation axis may be moved to maintain the counter-oscillation axis perpendicular to the oscillation axis for the oscillating object.

Eccentrically Rotating Mass Turbine

A turbine comprises a shaft (20), a mass (10) eccentrically mounted for rotation about shaft (20), having its center of gravity at a distance from the shaft (20) and a motion base (15). Motion base (15) rigidly supports the shaft (20), and is configured for moving the shaft (20) in any direction of at least two degrees of movement freedom, except for heave.

A floating vessel-turbine (120), encloses entirely the eccentrically rotating mass (10) and the motion base (15). The turbine converts ocean wave energy into useful energy, very efficiently.

Wave energy harvester

The disclosure relates generally to a wave energy harvester, comprising: a housing locatable aboard a floating platform; an armature coil fixedly mounted to the housing, the armature coil having a magnet associated therewith; and a body travelable along a track located within an interior of the housing, the body being coupled to the magnet; wherein, in use, wave-induced periodic motion of the floating platform results in reciprocating travel of the body along the track, with the travel of the body driving movement of the magnet with respect to the armature coil to thereby generate electricity.
