Power Plant For Producing Energy And Ammonia

The present disclosure relates to power plants. The teachings thereof may be embodied in processes for producing ammonia and energy, e.g., a method for producing ammonia and energy comprising: spraying or atomizing an electropositive metal; burning the metal with a reaction gas; mixing the reacted mixture with water; separating the mixture into (a) solid and liquid constituents and (b) gaseous constituents; at least partially converting energy of the solid and liquid constituents and of the gaseous constituents; and separating ammonia from the gaseous constituents. Mixing the reacted mixture may include spraying or atomizing the water or the aqueous solution or the suspension of the hydroxide of the electropositive metal into the reacted mixture.

An occupant support includes a framework which includes a frame, an orientation adjustable deck section supported by the frame, and a lockable gas spring whose components include a piston assembly coupled to one of the frame and the deck section and a cylinder coupled to the other of the frame and the deck section. The piston assembly includes a piston and a connecting rod. The piston divides the interior of the cylinder into an isolated compartment and a non-isolated compartment. The non-isolated compartment has an inlet and an outlet. An outflow check valve resists fluid flow out of the non-isolated compartment and admits ambient fluid into the non-isolated compartment. An inflow check valve resists fluid flow into the non-isolated compartment and enables fluid flow out of the non-isolated compartment. A turbine receives fluid which flows out of the non-isolated compartment. An electrical generator is coupled to the turbine.

A water/steam system for a combined cycle power plant and related method for operating said system are provided. The system comprises a heat recovery steam generator providing a flue gas stream path for extracting heat from a flue gas stream exhausted from a gas turbine, the heat recovery steam generator having a low pressure section including a low pressure evaporator arranged along the flue gas stream path for generating low pressure steam at a low pressure input level for a main input of a low pressure steam turbine. To use heat a low temperatures, embodiments of the system provide that in the low pressure section, additional sub low pressure steam, at a sub low pressure level below the low pressure level, is generated by a sub low pressure evaporator in the flue gas stream path.

GAS COMPRESSOR WITH REDUCED ENERGY LOSS

A gas compressor comprising a drum affixed to a rotating shaft, the drum including a plurality of compression channels between a common pressure zone and an interior surface of the drum distal to an axis of rotation. A static vane return assembly adjacent the compression channels includes vanes extending from an inlet at an outer circumference to the common pressure zone and directing gas into the common pressure zone, either through the vanes or via separate channels or ducts. Fluid inside the rotating dmm forms an annular lake that is drawn through the vanes and into the common pressure zone. Fluid is then forced into the compression channels where gas in the fluid is compressed as it travels from the common pressure zone toward the interior surface. The pressurized gas is separated from the liquid prior to leaving the compression channel assembly while the liquid is returned to the lake.
