EXHAUST ENERGY RECOVERY SYSTEM
An exhaust air energy recovery system configured for efficiently extracting energy from an exhaust stack of a building, duct, mine, server, or the like. The system includes an exhaust stack through which exhaust air moves and a turbine assembly connected to the exhaust stack by one or more legs. The turbine assembly is configured to generate energy from the exhaust air, and the turbine assembly includes a generator configured to convert energy based on the exhaust air; a turbine rotor connected to the generator; and a hub portion interposed between the generator and the lower blade plate.
STORAGE-COMBINED COLD, HEAT AND POWER
An energy storage-combined cooling, heating and power (S-CCHP) system for a building receives energy from a source, for example an intermittent source, and stores the energy in first and second high temperature energy storage (HTES) units. A Brayton cycle using the first HTES unit produces hot and pressurized air that is further heated in the second HTES unit. The heated air drives a turbine to generate electricity for the building. A portion of the compressed air from the Brayton cycle is diverted to a hot water heat exchanger, then to another turbine to produce electricity to the building. The hot water heat exchanger heats water for the building and the other turbine exhaust cools water for building cooling. Heat exchangers are strategically placed to optimize the thermal efficiency of the cycle. In some embodiments the heat transfer fluid is humidified to improve thermal energy transfer properties.
Solar assisted gas turbine desalination and carbon capture system
A system for generating electricity, heat, and desalinated water having a gas turbine system connected to a first electric generator, a waste heat recovery boiler (WHRB) system, a combined heat and power (CHP) generation system connected to a second electric generator, one or more solar powered energy systems, and a desalination system. The desalination system is connected to the CHP generation system and the WHRB system. The gas turbine system generates electricity and heat, the WHRB system is connected to and uses the exhaust of the gas turbine system to provide heat and steam power to the CHP generation system. The CHP generation system produces and provides electricity and heat to the desalination system, which produces product water, and at least one solar powered energy system provides thermal energy to one or more of the gas turbine system, the WHRB system, the CHP generation system, and the desalination system.
HYDROGEN PRODUCTION USING ELECTRICAL POWER GENERATED BY GAS PRESSURE LETDOWN
A system includes a flow-through electric generator and an electrolytic cell. The flow-through electric generator includes a turbine wheel, a rotor, and a stator. The turbine wheel is configured to receive natural gas from a natural gas pipeline and rotate in response to expansion of the natural gas flowing into an inlet of the turbine wheel and out of an outlet of the turbine wheel. The rotor is coupled to the turbine wheel and configured to rotate with the turbine wheel. The flow-through electric generator is configured to generate electrical power upon rotation of the rotor within the stator. The electrolytic cell is configured to receive a water stream and the electrical power from the flow-through electric generator. The electrolytic cell is configured to perform electrolysis on the water stream using the received electrical power to produce a hydrogen stream and an oxygen stream.
Aircraft hybrid engine having gear ring encased fans
A propulsion engine comprising at least a first propulsion unit including a first fan encased by a geared ring and a gas turbine engine driving a first shaft connected to the first fan, at least a second propulsion unit including a second fan encased by a geared ring connected to a second shaft operatively coupled to an electric machine and at least an electric storage device connected to the electric machine. The geared rings are configured to transmit torque between the fans so that they can rotate in conjunction (directly or through an intermediate gear) when they are driven by at least one of said first and second shafts. The propulsion engine is arranged for controlling the torque to be supplied to the assembly of the first and second fans by the gas turbine engine and/or by the electric machine acting as a motor or as a generator.
MICRO GAS TURBINE DESIGNED TO LIMIT HEAT LOSSES THEREFROM
A micro gas turbine equipped with a valve mechanism by means of which the operation of the micro gas turbine can be influenced and optimized, particularly by regulating a supply of hot gas from the cabinet and/or the exhaust of the micro gas turbine to an inlet side of the compressor.
