The air pouch and the first cooling hole are formed in a shield wall, thereby achieving an improvement in cooling performance as well as simplification of production process.
Modulated turbine component cooling
Features and methods for modulating a flow of cooling fluid to gas turbine engine components are provided. In one embodiment, an airfoil is provided having a flow modulation insert for modulating a flow of cooling fluid received in a cavity of a body of the airfoil. In another embodiment, a shroud is provided comprising a cooling channel for a flow of cooling fluid and an insert that varies in position to modulate the flow of cooling fluid through the cooling channel. In yet another embodiment, a method for operating a gas turbine engine having a cooling circuit for cooling one or more components of the gas turbine engine comprises increasing power provided to the engine and decreasing power provided to the engine to modulate a position of a flow modulation insert located in the cooling circuit and thereby modulate the flow of cooling fluid through the cooling circuit.
BLADE TRACK ASSEMBLY, COMPONENTS, AND METHODS
A blade track assembly is disclosed having a variety of features. The assembly can have annular or segmented components, or a combination of the two. In one form the assembly includes blade tracks having a forward and aft edge that can be received in an opening of respective hangers. The hangers can include anti-movement features to discourage movement of a blade track. A rib can extend between hangers and in one form can be used as part of a seal assembly. Clips can be used to secure the blade track in openings of the respective hangers, as well as to discourage movement of the blade track.
BLADE TRACK ASSEMBLY WITH TURBINE TIP CLEARANCE CONTROL
A turbine shroud or blade track assembly adapted to extend around a turbine wheel assembly is disclosed. The turbine shroud includes a carrier and a blade track coupled to the carrier. The blade track is movable between a radially-inward position having a first inner diameter and a radially-outward position having a second inner diameter larger than the first inner diameter.
RING STATOR
A stator assembly for a gas turbine engine includes an annular outer shroud, an annular inner shroud radially spaced from the outer shroud and a plurality of stator vanes extending from the outer shroud to the inner shroud. A volume of potting is located at the inner shroud and at the outer shroud to retain the plurality of stator vanes thereat. A stator and case assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a case defining a working fluid flowpath for the gas turbine engine and a stator assembly located at the case. The stator assembly includes an annular outer shroud secured to the case, an annular inner shroud secured to the case and a plurality of stator vanes extending from the outer to the inner shroud. A volume of potting is located at the inner shroud and at the outer shroud to retain the plurality of stator vanes thereat.
COOLING HOLE WITH SHAPED METER
A gas turbine engine component having a cooling passage includes a first wall defining an inlet of the cooling passage, a second wall generally opposite the first wall and defining an outlet of the cooling passage, a metering section extending downstream from the inlet, and a diffusing section extending from the metering section to the outlet. The metering section includes an upstream side and a downstream side generally opposite the upstream side. At least one of the upstream and downstream sides includes a first passage wall and a second passage wall where the first and second passage walls intersect to form a V-shape.
CERAMIC COMPONENT HAVING SILICON LAYER AND BARRIER LAYER
A seal system includes a ceramic component that has a non-core-gaspath surface region that defines a first surface roughness and a core gaspath surface region. A metallic component is situated adjacent the non-core-gaspath surface region. A coating system is disposed on the ceramic component. The coating system includes a silicon-containing layer on the non-core-gaspath surface region and a barrier layer that has a first section on the silicon-containing layer and a second section on the core-gaspath region and that is connected to the first section. The surface of the barrier layer has a second surface roughness that is less than the first surface roughness. The first section is in contact with the metallic component and the second section serves as an environmental barrier on the core-gaspath region.
