Vibration control method and system
An electric machine coupled to rotating machinery includes a rotor and a stator, and the method of control of an electric machine and an electric machine control system. The method includes sensing one or more parameters indicative of one or more resonance conditions of the rotating machinery, and comparing the sensed parameter to a predetermined threshold to determine whether the rotating machinery is operating at the resonance condition. Where the rotating machinery is determined to be operating at the resonance condition, adjusting a magnetic field of one or both of the rotor and the stator to provide a predetermined torque to the rotating machine, to modulate the stiffness of the rotational machinery, and thereby move the resonance condition away from the current rotating machinery conditions.
PUMP BEARING HOLDERS
A pump bearing holder has a carrier portion configured to carry a static set of magnets of a pump magnetic bearing and a support portion extending outwardly of the carrier portion to connect with a pump casing such that the pump bearing holder spans an inlet provided in the pump housing. The support portion defines a plurality of internal through-passages that, in use, allow a gas flowing through the inlet to flow through the support portion.
Turbomachine With Internal Bearing And Rotor-Spline Interface Cooling and Systems Incorporating the Same
Aspects of the present disclosure include turbomachines designed and configured for high temperature and pressure operation and increased power level output that minimize pressure vessel design requirements, and increase dry gas seal reliability. In some examples, a first radial bearing is located in a high temperature and/or pressure region of the turbomachine between a rotor of the machine and a dry gas seal while other bearings are located outside of the high pressure region.
REDUCING BEARING LOAD IN A REGENERATIVE TURBINE PUMP
A regenerative turbine impeller includes a first side and a second side. An impeller housing surrounds the regenerative turbine impeller. The impeller housing includes a seal separating the first side and the second side of the regenerative turbine impeller. A first fluid inlet is fluidically coupled to the first side of the regenerative turbine impeller. A first fluid outlet is fluidically coupled to the first side of the regenerative turbine impeller. A second fluid inlet is fluidically coupled to the second side of the regenerative turbine impeller. A second fluid outlet is fluidically coupled to the second side of the regenerative turbine impeller.
Non-lubricated architecture for a turboshaft engine
A turbine engine for a helicopter, the helicopter including a main gearbox, a rotor, and a speed-reducing device housed entirely within the main gearbox of the helicopter while also being connected to the rotor, the turbine engine including a casing, a gas generator with a gas generator shaft, and a free turbine for being driven in rotation by a gas stream generated by the gas generator, the free turbine including a free turbine shaft. When the turbine engine is fastened to the gearbox of the helicopter, the free turbine shaft extends axially into the main gearbox of the helicopter to be connected directly to the speed-reducing device.
RESONANCE VIBRATION CONTROL METHOD AND SYSTEM
A bearing arrangement includes a shaft, at least one contact bearing and at least one non-contact bearing and a controller. The controller is configured to control a magnitude of a restoring force applied to the shaft by the non-contact bearing in accordance with a sensed parameter such that a stiffness of the shaft is modified such that one or more resonance frequencies of the shaft are moved away from one or more external forcing frequencies.

Rotary machine, bearing and method for manufacturing a rotary machine
A rotary machine, comprising: a stator assembly and a rotor assembly centered on a central axis; a magnetic bearing; and an auxiliary bearing including a first ring held in the stator assembly and a second ring delimiting a gap radially to the central axis relative to the rotor. The second ring is not rotating around the central axis in a primary operation mode and is dragged in rotation around the central axis in a secondary operation mode. The rotary machine includes a monitoring system for detecting a transition from the primary operation mode to the secondary operation mode. The monitoring system comprises a target formed on the second ring and a sensor unit fixed relative to the stator assembly. A bearing and a method for manufacturing a rotary machine are additionally disclosed.
ORC Turbine and Generator, And Method Of Making A Turbine
A turbine and a turbine-generator device for use in electricity generation. The turbine has a universal design and so may be relatively easily modified for use in connection with generators having a rated power output in the range of 50 KW to 5 MW. Such modifications are achieved, in part, through use of a modular turbine cartridge built up of discrete rotor and stator plates sized for the desired application with turbine brush seals chosen to accommodate radial rotor movements from the supported generator. The cartridge may be installed and removed from the turbine relatively easily for maintenance or rebuilding. The rotor housing is designed to be relatively easily machined to dimensions that meet desired operating parameters.
TURBOMACHINE SYSTEMS WITH MAGNETIC BEARING COOLING AND METHOD
A turbomachine system includes a turbomachine provided with a turbomachine rotor. The turbomachine rotor is comprised of a turbomachine shaft with a first shaft end and a second shaft end. The turbomachine shaft is supported by active magnetic bearings for rotation in a turbomachine casing. The turbomachine system further includes a rotary machine drivingly coupled to the first shaft end, and a first closed cooling circuit adapted to circulate a cooling fluid therein and fluidly coupled to the active magnetic bearings to remove heat therefrom. The closed cooling circuit includes a cooling fluid impeller mounted on the turbomachine shaft for rotation therewith and adapted to circulate the cooling fluid in the closed cooling circuit. The closed cooling circuit further includes a heat exchanger adapted to remove heat from the cooling fluid. A method of operating a turbomachine system is further disclosed.
