The housing assembly comprises a housing defining at least one support groove and a seal plate. The bearing assembly comprises an outer sleeve defining at least one support tab. The at least one support tab is sized and dimensioned such that, when the outer sleeve is supported by the housing member in a desired orientation, the support tab is within the support groove such that movement of the outer sleeve along the system axis relative to the housing member is inhibited. The seal plate may be configured to define at least one anti-rotation projection arranged relative to the support tab to inhibit rotation of the outer sleeve about the system axis relative to the housing member.

Rolling element device with jointly tiltable raceways

A roller element device, in particular for a gas turbine engine, comprises an outer ring with an inner raceway, an inner ring with an outer raceway, and roller elements which are arranged between the raceways so as to roll thereon, wherein the outer ring and the inner ring are each connected via a connecting portion to a respective fixing portion for fixing to one of two components which are rotatable relative to each other about a rotation axis, and the connecting portions are formed such that the two raceways can be jointly tilted at least in portions relative to the rotation axis.

Turbocharger bearing assembly and method for providing the same

An integrated bearing assembly includes a thrust bearing disposed along a face of a turbocharger casing in a turbocharger and extending circumferentially around an axis of rotation of a rotor of the turbocharger, and a dual film journal bearing radially disposed between the rotor and the turbocharger casing which can be semi-floating or fully floating. The journal bearing includes a shoulder step radially extending away from the rotor. The shoulder step of the journal bearing engages one or more of the thrust bearing or the turbocharger casing to prevent axial movement of the dual film journal bearing relative to the turbocharger casing.

Bearing assembly for a charging apparatus

A bearing assembly for a charging apparatus. The bearing assembly comprises a bearing housing and a shaft. The bearing assembly further comprises a compressor-side bearing bushing and a turbine-side bearing bushing which together support the shaft inside a bearing bore of the bearing housing. The bearing assembly is configured to supply unequal amounts of lubricant to a compressor-side outer lubrication gap of the compressor-side bearing bushing and to a turbine-side outer lubrication gap of the turbine-side bearing bushing. The bearing assembly is further configured to supply unequal amounts of lubricant to a compressor-side inner lubrication gap of the compressor-side bearing bushing and to a turbine-side inner lubrication gap of the turbine-side bearing bushing.

Bearing cartridge assembly for a turbocharger

A turbocharger assembly including a housing, a shaft, and turbine and compressor wheels mounted on opposite ends of the shaft. The shaft is rotatably supported within the housing by a bearing cartridge that includes turbine-side and compressor side ball-bearing assemblies that are longitudinally spaced by a spacer. There are two times as many rows of ball-bearings included in the turbine-side ball-bearing assembly compared to the compressor-side ball-bearing assembly. The spacer slides over and rotates with the shaft and has at least one flat. An optical sensor extends through the housing and an optical sensor opening in the bearing cartridge to prevent the bearing cartridge from rotating within the housing. The optical sensor detects rotational speed of the spacer by counting the number of times the flat(s) passes by the optical sensor during a pre-determined time interval.

FUSED SOFT AND HARD BEARING RINGS

An enclosure for a turbomachine includes a turbomachine drive shaft rotating about a longitudinal axis (X) by means of two roller bearings, an upstream bearing and a downstream bearing, each having an inner ring carried by the drive shaft. The two bearings share a single integral outer ring that has an upstream end and a downstream end connected to one another by a section of studs. The single outer ring is carried by an upstream base plate and a downstream base plate of a bearing support configured to be attached to a stationary structure of the turbomachine.

A gas turbine propulsion system includes a shroud that defines a fluid flow path. A gas turbine engine in the fluid flow path includes a compressor, a combustor downstream from the compressor, and a turbine downstream from the combustor. An electric generator in the fluid flow path defined by the shroud includes a rotor coaxially aligned with the turbine. A propulsor is upstream from the gas turbine engine, and an electric motor is operably coupled to the propulsor to rotate the propulsor. The propulsor is rotationally isolated from the gas turbine engine so that the propulsor rotates independently from operation of the gas turbine engine.

FRICTION BEARING, AND METHOD FOR LUBRICATING AND COOLING A FRICTION BEARING

A friction bearing of a planetary gearbox, has first and second rotatably connected components. Oil adjacent an oil feed pocket of the first component is directed into the bearing clearance between the components. The oil is directed into the pocket by a first line that opens into the pocket.
