SHAFT SEALING MECHANISM
A shaft sealing mechanism (11) that partitions an annular space (14) that is formed between a fixed part (12) and a rotating shaft (13) into a high-pressure-side region and a low-pressure-side region, that obstructs the flow of a fluid (G), and that is provided with: a plurality of annularly laminated thin-plate seal pieces (22) that are fixed to an annular seal housing (21) that is provided to the fixed part and are in sliding contact with the rotating shaft; and an annular low-pressure-side plate (26) that is sandwiched and held such that a low-pressure-side gap (6L) is formed between the seal housing and a low-pressure-side side edge part (22d) of the thin-plate seal pieces. The thin-plate seal pieces have pressure-conduction holes (31) that are formed further to the inside in the radial direction of the rotating shaft than an inner-circumferential-side tip part (26a) of the low-pressure-side plate.
Hinged seal using wire mesh
A seal segment includes a flapper seal, a wire mesh acting as a hinge for the flapper seal, and a spring. The flapper seal has a first surface and a second surface. The wire mesh includes a first section connected to the first surface of the flapper seal and a second section connected to the first section. The spring includes a first end that is in contact with the first section of the wire mesh to apply pressure to the first surface of the flapper seal and a second end adjacent the second section of the wire mesh.
TURBINE SHROUD WITH SEALED BOX SEGMENTS
A turbine shroud adapted to extend around a bladed turbine wheel to block gasses from passing over the bladed turbine wheel is disclosed. In a segmented embodiment, each turbine shroud segment may include a carrier segment and a blade track segment. The carrier segment may comprise metallic materials and may be formed to define an attachment-receiving space. The blade track segment may comprise ceramic matrix composite materials and may be formed to include an attachment portion that extends radially outward from the runner into the attachment-receiving space formed by the carrier segment.
SEAL ASSEMBLY TO SEAL CORNER LEAKS IN GAS TURBINE
Various embodiments include gas turbine seals and methods of forming such seals. In some cases, a turbine includes: a first arcuate component adjacent to a second arcuate component, each arcuate component including one or more slots located in an end face, each of the one or more slots having a plurality of axial surfaces and radially facing surfaces extending from opposite ends of the axial surfaces and a seal assembly disposed in the slot. The seal assembly including an intersegment seal including a plurality of seal segments defining one or more corner regions. The intersegment seal disposed in a slot defining a high-pressure slot side and a low-pressure slot side, wherein the slot includes a plurality of slot segments. Each of the plurality of seal segments including at least one extended portion to either seal the one or more corner regions on a low-pressure slot side, form a recess in the intersegment seal, or both.
Asymmetric radial spline seal for a gas turbine engine
A shroud apparatus for a gas turbine engine includes: an annular shroud segment having an arcuate bottom wall defining an arcuate inner flowpath surface, spaced-apart forward and aft walls extending radially outward from the bottom wall, and spaced-apart side walls extending radially outward from the bottom wall and between the forward and aft walls, each side wall defining an end face which includes: an axial slot extending in a generally axial direction along the end face; a first radial slot extending in a generally radial direction along the end face, and intersecting the axial slot; an axial spline seal received in the axial slot; and a first radial spline seal having an L-shape with radial and axial legs, the radial leg being substantially longer than the axial leg, wherein the radial leg is received in the first radial slot, and the axial leg is received in the axial slot.
HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSOR SEAL-RING WITH IMPROVED WEAR RESISTANCE
A compressor seal-ring assembly includes a seal formed of a nickel, cobalt or iron-based superalloy; a counterface positioned for sealing interaction with the seal; and a lubricant coating on the seal, the lubricant coating being formed of a CoCrAlY-containing material.
ROTATING MACHINE AND SEAL RING
A rotating machine includes a rotor which is configured to rotate about an axis, a stator which faces the rotor in a radial direction, and a plurality of seal fins which are provided so as to be protruded from one of the rotor and the stator toward the other of the rotor and the stator in the radial direction and are arranged with gaps therebetween in an axial direction, and one of the rotor and the stator includes an acoustic space which is formed as a hollow portion inside the one of the rotor and the stator, and a communication hole which allows communication between the acoustic space and a part between adjacent seal fins of the plurality of seal fins, the adjacent seal fins being adjacent to each other in the axial direction.
Seal segment for a turbine, assembly for externally delimiting a flow path of a turbine, and stator/rotor seal
A seal segment for a turbine and an assembly for sealing the gaps between seal segments and stator vanes of a turbine. The seal segments have a plate-shaped wall, the first lateral surface of which faces the vane tips in the assembled state of the seal segments, is surrounded by a closed circumferential edge, and can be divided into four lateral wall sections, and the plate-shaped wall has a seal element which is arranged over the entire surface of the lateral surface. A number of seal lamellae which are secured on one side are provided on at least one of the lateral wall sections and/or on at least one of the seal lateral wall sections facing adjacent seal segments when the seal segments are assembled in a turbine so as to form a ring in order to reduce a flow along the corresponding lateral wall section.
