VENTILATION FAN HAVING A HYBRID BEARING SYSTEM
A ventilation fan includes a shaft, a rotor, a motor housing, a bearing housing, and an air bearing. The shaft has a shaft body that extends between a first shaft end and a second shaft end. The shaft body defines a first port and a bore. The rotor is disposed about the shaft. The motor housing is disposed about the shaft and is axially spaced apart from the rotor. The bearing housing is disposed about the shaft. The air bearing is disposed proximate the second shaft end and is disposed between the bearing arm and the second shaft end.
INTERSHAFT SEALING SYSTEMS FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINES AND METHODS FOR ASSEMBLING THE SAME
A seal assembly for use between an inner shaft and an outer shaft rotatable about a common axis within a turbine engine includes a pair of end rings and a plurality of seal elements coupled between the pair of end rings. Each end ring includes a flange extending in an axial direction, and each seal element includes a pair of shoulders extending in opposing axial directions. The seal assembly also includes a pair of retaining rings. Each retaining ring is positioned between one shoulder of the pair of shoulders and a corresponding one end ring flange of the pair of end ring flanges.
Decoupler for engine starter
An air turbine starter for starting an engine, comprising a housing defining an inlet, an outlet, and a flow path extending between the inlet and the outlet for communicating a flow of gas there through. A turbine member is journaled within the housing and disposed within the flow path for rotatably extracting mechanical power from the flow of gas and a gear train is drivingly coupled with the turbine member. A drive shaft is operably coupled with the gear train, and a decoupler is selectively coupled to the drive shaft for decoupling the air turbine starter from the engine.
Hollow Filled Turbocharger Rotor Shaft
A turbocharger rotor shaft assembly and associated turbocharger that includes at least one turbine rotor member having a first face and an opposed second face; and a rotor shaft having a first end and an opposed second end distal from the first end, wherein the rotor shaft is connected to the at least one turbine rotor at a location proximate to the first end and projects outward therefrom, the rotor shaft having an outwardly oriented face and an interior chamber defined therein, the interior chamber having an interior chamber volume. The turbocharger rotor shaft also includes at least one thermal transfer material contained in the interior chamber of the rotor shaft that has a thermal conductivity value that is greater than the thermal conductivity value of the material of construction of the rotor shaft.
LUBRICATION SYSTEM
An insert for supplying a fluid within a drive shaft, the insert extending along an axis of rotation and comprising an insert wall having a rigid inner insert wall portion and an elastically deformable outer insert wall portion a reservoir defined by the insert wall for storing a fluid, a nozzle positioned at the first end of the insert wall, and wherein the elastically deformable outer insert wall portion is configured to move between an expanded state, when the fluid is supplied to the reservoir, and an unexpanded state, when rotation of the insert and supply of fluid to the reservoir are ceased, and movement of the elastically deformable outer insert wall portion to the unexpanded state forces the fluid to be discharged through the nozzle.
AIR TURBINE STARTER WITH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AIR FLOW PATHS
An air turbine starter that includes a housing. The housing can circumscribe a turbine coupled that is coupled to a gear train in a gear box via a drive shaft. A primary air flow path is defined between a primary inlet and a primary outlet. Air in the primary air flow path can flow into a secondary air flow path or rotate the turbine, that converts energy from the air flow to rotational mechanical energy. Air in the secondary air flow path can pass through at least a first cavity and first passage before rejoining the primary air flow or joining ambient air.
Rotary device
A rotary device includes: a housing; an impeller disposed in the housing; a rotor disposed in the housing and configured to drive the impeller; and a labyrinth seal disposed between the impeller and the rotor in the housing and configured to control an amount of air injected through the impeller to cool the rotor. A flow path opening that penetrates through the rotor is formed inside the rotor along a rotational axis of the rotor and the labyrinth seal comprises a teeth portion having a predetermined number of steps provided in the labyrinth seal.
TURBOMACHINE ROTOR
The invention concerns a turbomachine rotor (1), characterised in that it comprises a threaded or tapped part (3, 6) and a damping nut (8) screwed onto the threaded or tapped part (3, 6) so as to allow the threads of the nut (8) and of the threaded or tapped part (3, 6) to rub against each other in the event of vibration of the rotor (1).
CENTER VENT TUBE ALIGNING MECHANISM AND CENTER VENT TUBE SUPPORT DEVICE
A center vent tube aligning mechanism which aligns a center vent tube inserted into a hollow shaft is provided with: an annular portion which is coaxially provided with the center vent tube in an outer side of the center vent tube in a radial direction thereof; a flexible portion which protrudes in a direction along an axis of the center vent tube from the annular portion; an abutting portion which is connected to the flexible portion and which abuts an inner circumferential surface of the shaft; and a cylindrical sleeve which surrounds the center vent tube from the outer side in a radial direction of the center vent tube and which is supported by a reaction force that the abutting portion receives from the inner circumferential surface of the shaft.
Center vent tube support device of turbofan engine
A center vent tube support device includes: an annular sleeve having an inner surface that comes into contact with an outer surface of a center vent tube; a ring formed of a pair of segments and placed between the sleeve and a shaft; and an annular nut for fixing the ring to the sleeve. An outer surface of the sleeve or the nut includes a pressurizing surface formed as a conical surface. Each ring segment includes a supporting surface formed as a cylindrical surface having a diameter equal to an inner diameter of the main shaft in a portion where the device is installed, a bearing surface formed as a conical surface having a vertex angle equal to that of the conical surface forming the pressurizing surface, a pair of side surfaces, and a pair of end faces formed as planes each spaced from a plane including the axis.
