Frangible airfoil for a gas turbine engine
An airfoil defining a chordwise dimension, a spanwise dimension, a leading edge, a trailing edge, a root, and a tip, is generally provided. The airfoil includes a first material substrate defining a pressure side and a suction side. The first material substrate defines a plurality of discrete volumes extended from at least one of the pressure side or the suction side into the first material substrate. The plurality of discrete volumes is arranged at least partially along the chordwise dimension and a second material substrate different from the first material substrate is defined at least partially within the volume.
Apparatus and method of manufacturing a containment case with embedded containment core
A containment assembly for a machine having a rotor radially bounded at least in part by the containment assembly. The containment assembly may comprise and inner casing member formed from a composite material, a containment liner bonded to a radially inner surface of the inner casing member, an outer casing member formed from a composite material and positioned radially outward of the inner casing member, and a containment core embedded between the inner and outer casing members.
Duct assembly and method of forming
A method of forming a strengthened component includes providing a duct body having an interior surface and an exterior surface forming a fluid passageway. The method also includes forming an attachment structure over at least a portion of the exterior surface of the duct body, where the attachment structure can include a metallic layer.
CEILING FAN BLADE
A ceiling fan or similar air-moving device can include a motor for rotating one or more blades to drive a volume of air about a space. The blade can include a body having an outer surface with a flat top surface and a flat bottom surface, and a side edge. A curved transition can extend between one of the flat top surface or the flat bottom surface, and the side edge. The curved transition can include an elliptical curvature.
CEILING FAN BLADE
A ceiling fan or similar air-moving device can include a motor for rotating one or more blades to drive a volume of air about a space. The blade can include a body having an outer surface with a flat top surface and a flat bottom surface, and a side edge. The top surface includes a chamfered portion extending between a flat portion, and the side edge.

GAS TURBINE ENGINE COMPONENT WITH DISCHARGE SLOT HAVING A FLARED BASE
A component for a gas turbine engine includes a body portion that extends between a leading edge and a trailing edge of the component. The trailing edge includes a flared region and a non-flared region. At least one discharge slot is disposed at least partially within the flared region of the component.
Diffuser for a turbine engine and method of forming same
A diffuser for a turbine engine includes a first wall that extends circumferentially about a centerline axis of the turbine engine. The diffuser also includes a second wall that extends circumferentially about the centerline axis. At least a portion of the second wall is positioned radially outwardly from at least a portion of the first wall. A flow path is defined by the first wall and the second wall. The flow path extends from an inlet configured to receive an axial flow of a fluid, to a circumferentially extending outlet configured to emit the fluid in a substantially radial direction. The outlet extends asymmetrically about the centerline axis.
Turbine distributor sector for an aircraft turbine engine
Turbine distributor sector for an aircraft turbine engine, including an external annular platform sector and an internal annular platform sector, the sectors being coaxial and being connected together by blade assemblies including inner cavities cooled by gas circulation, the external platform sector including through openings of which radially internal ends open into the inner cavities, wherein the external platform sector includes inner ducts for supplying the cavities with gas, the ducts including air outlets opening into the openings and air inlets opening onto a portion of the external annular surface of the external platform sector.
HERMETIC SQUEEZE FILM DAMPER HAVING AN ELLIPTICAL DAMPER ORIFICE
Embodiments of a damper assembly are disclosed. In some embodiments, the damper assembly includes a damper housing, a damper plunger and a support spring. The damper plunger is disposed at least partially within the housing and movable within to define a first primary damper cavity and a second primary damper cavity. A damper cavity restrictive clearance is defined between the first primary damper cavity and the second primary damper cavity. The damper cavity restrictive clearance includes an elliptical damper orifice having a major-axis and a minor-axis at a mid-plane of the damper cavity restrictive clearance and is oriented perpendicular to a direction of a vibrational force imposed on the damper assembly.
