PROPULSION ASSEMBLY FOR AN AIRCRAFT
A propulsion assembly having a propulsion system including an exhaust nozzle fastened to the nozzle wall on the outside thereof so as to define between them a chamber, and a heat exchanger system ensuring an exchange of heat energy between the hot combustion gases circulating in the exhaust nozzle and the colder fuel circulating in the supply pipe at least in part by thermal radiation through the nozzle wall. The heat exchanger system has a pipe portion arranged in the chamber and the exchange of heat energy takes place at this pipe portion. With such an arrangement, the heat energy of the combustion gases is transferred to the fuel for better combustion.
STAR WORM GEAR
The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, an actuator that includes a worm drive assembly having a worm shaft, and a worm wheel configured as a ring having a radially outer perimeter comprising a first collection of gear teeth extending radially outward from the radially outer perimeter and at least partly engaged with the worm shaft, and a coaxial radially inner perimeter comprising a second collection of gear teeth extending radially inward from the inner perimeter, and an epicyclic gear assembly having a sun gear and a planet gear engaged with the sun gear and the second collection of gear teeth.
Method and device for connecting fan rotor to low pressure turbine rotor
A rotor assembly includes a fan rotor shaft coupled to a fan rotor, a low pressure turbine rotor shaft coupled to a low pressure turbine rotor, and a joint device configured to connect the fan rotor shaft to the low pressure turbine rotor shaft, to allow torsion, shear and bending to be transferred between the fan rotor shaft and the low pressure turbine rotor shaft under normal operation, and allow torsion and shear but prevent bending to be transferred between the fan rotor shaft and the low pressure turbine rotor shaft under a fan blade-out event.
HGP component with effusion cooling element having coolant swirling chamber
An effusion cooling element for the surface of a hot gas path (HGP) component is disclosed. The effusion cooling element includes a coolant swirling chamber embedded within the body of the HGP component. A coolant delivery passage is in the body and configured to deliver a coolant to the coolant swirling chamber. The coolant swirling chamber imparts a centrifugal force to the coolant. An effusion opening is in the HGP surface and in fluid communication with the coolant swirling chamber, the effusion opening having a smaller width than the coolant swirling chamber. The coolant exits the effusion opening over substantially all of 360° about the effusion opening, creating a coolant film on the HGP surface.
Directed Flow Nozzle Swirl Enhancer
An apparatus for improving heat transfer through a leading portion of an aircraft engine. The apparatus includes an annular channel that is defined by the leading portion. A source for gas that is fluidly connected to the channel and a narrow region that is defined within the annular channel.
Method for manufacturing an oxide/oxide composite material turbomachine blade provided with internal channels
An oxide/oxide composite material turbomachine blade including a fiber reinforcement obtained by weaving a first plurality of threads and a second plurality of threads, with the threads of said first plurality of threads being arranged in successive layers and extending in the longitudinal direction of the fiber blank corresponding to the longitudinal direction of the blade is disclosed. The reinforcement is densified by a matrix, with the blade further including one or several internal channels having a coiled shape extending in the longitudinal direction of the blade.
Fiber-reinforced aircraft component and aircraft comprising same
An air inlet deflector for a structure having an air inlet. The deflector may be retractable within the structure, may be integrally formed with the structure, and may prevent the structure from ingesting foreign matter, such as birds. The deflector may include a series of ribs, spokes, or vanes that may vary in width and/or thickness from fore to aft, and/or may be curvilinear in one or more planes of view, and/or may serve double duty as inlet vanes for redirecting inlet air.
ACOUSTIC ATTENUATION PANEL FOR A TURBOJET ENGINE NACELLE
An acoustic attenuation panel for a turbojet engine nacelle is provided by the present disclosure. The panel includes at least one alveolar core disposed between at least one internal skin and at least one external skin. In one form, the alveolar core includes a plurality of alveoli having a helical-shaped cavity along an axis in a direction normal to at least one internal skin and at least one external skin.
Air-oil separation system for gas turbine engine
An air-oil separation system for a gas turbine engine system comprises a housing that extends circumferentially around an axis to define an interior chamber of the housing and a separation unit located in the chamber. The housing is formed to include an inlet configured to receive a mixture of air and oil, an oil outlet configured to conduct oil to exit the housing, and an air outlet configured to conduct air to exit the housing. The air-oil separation unit separates air from the oil.
COMPOSITE SPRAY BARS
The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a fuel delivery component, a substantially rigid, unitary structure formed as a single piece of material, and at least a first seamless lumen defined by the unitary structure as a first loop.
