Turbocharger
A turbocharger includes: a shaft connecting a compressor wheel and a turbine wheel; a thrust collar rotating together with the shaft; a thrust bearing holding the thrust collar for rotation; and a bearing housing holding the thrust bearing, wherein the bearing housing includes: an oil supply passage for supplying oil for lubrication to the thrust bearing; an oil discharge passage from which the oil supplied to the thrust bearing is discharged; a wall portion facing the thrust collar; and a groove portion formed in the wall portion and extending from the thrust collar toward a discharge port of the oil discharge passage.
Turbomachine component retention
Turbomachine components and compressors are provided. The turbomachine component includes a platform and a mounting portion that extends from the platform. The mounting portion includes a dovetail received by a slot defined in the turbomachine. The slot includes a floor and a ceiling. The dovetail includes an inner surface and an outer surface. A hole is defined in the dovetail from an inlet at the inner surface to an end wall. The hole has a cylindrical portion and a tapered portion. A mechanical spring is disposed within the hole and in contact with the floor and the end wall such that the outer surface of the dovetail is forced into contact with the ceiling of the slot.
Oil-cooled carbon seal
A seal system has: a first member; a seal carried by the first member and having a seal face; and a second member rotatable relative to the first member about an axis. The second member has: a seat on a first piece of the second member, the seat having a seat face in sliding sealing engagement with the seal face; and a radially outwardly closed collection channel for collecting centrifuged oil; a second piece encircling and attached to the first piece and having a circumferential array of apertures; and cooperating with the first piece to define a plenum; and a flowpath from the collection channel passing radially outward axially spaced from the seat face to cool the seat face and passing axially away from the seat face in the plenum.
Propulsion system with grooved inert rods for reactive wire
A rocket motor includes at least one inert rod. The inert rod has a groove that extends along the length of the inert rod. The groove may be machined by a lathe, die, and/or CNC machine, such that the groove is configured helically around the rod. A reactive wire is inserted into the groove along the length of the inert rod. The grooved inert rod, and the reactive wire together constitute the burn rate enhancer assembly. The rocket motor is configured such that the burn rate enhancer assembly is inserted into a rocket motor casing. The rocket motor casing is then filled with a burnable propellant grain, the highly loaded grain, which is in a liquid or semi-solid state. The highly loaded grain then cures in the rocket motor casing around the burn rate enhancer assembly.
Cooling structure for trailing edge of turbine blade
A cooling structure for a trailing edge of a turbine blade is provided. The cooling structure for the trailing edge of the turbine blade comprising an airfoil shaped blade part including a leading edge, a trailing edge, a pressure surface and a suction surface connecting the leading edge and the trailing edge, and a cavity channel formed in the blade part and through which a cooling fluid flows, the cooling structure including slots and lands arranged alternately on the trailing edge along a span direction of the pressure surface by cutting a portion of the pressure surface, the slots communicating with the cavity channel and defined by adjacent lands where the pressure surface remains, wherein a pin-fin structure is disposed in the cavity channel on an upstream side of the slot, and wherein the cooling fluid is introduced through a micro-channel formed inside the pin-fin structure and is discharged through film cooling holes formed in the pressure surface.
TURBINE COMPONENT WITH A THIN INTERIOR PARTITION
A hollow turbine airfoil or a hollow turbine casting including a cooling passage partition. The cooling passage partition is formed from a single crystal grain structure nickel based super alloy, a cobalt based super alloy, a nickel-aluminum based alloy, or a coated refractory metal.
Acoustic resonator for fan
An acoustic resonator for a fan includes an annular shape internal volume defining by a housing, housing and internal volume are coaxial relative to the longitudinal axle of the acoustic resonator, internal volume comprises at least one coaxial helical channel, the at least one coaxial channel comprise an inlet and outlet corresponding to inlet and outlet of the acoustic resonator characterized in that the acoustic resonator comprises adjusting means provide for modified the length between inlet and outlet of the acoustic resonator according an acoustic frequency to lower noise.
CONDENSER FOR HYDROGEN STEAM INJECTED TURBINE ENGINE
A propulsion system for an aircraft includes a hydrogen fuel system supplying hydrogen fuel to the combustor through a fuel flow path. A condenser extracts water from an exhaust gas flow and includes a plurality of spiral passages disposed within a collector. The spiraling passages generate a transverse pressure gradient to direct water out of the exhaust gas flow toward the collector.
System for a combined turbine and bearing case for a turbocharger
Various systems are provided for a single turbocharger case housing each of turbine of a turbocharger and a bearing of the turbocharger. In one example, an apparatus for an engine includes an integrated, monolithic turbocharger case that houses each of a turbine and a bearing of a turbocharger and a nozzle ring integrated into the turbocharger case between the turbine and the bearing. In further examples of the system, portions of the turbocharger case are formed of a lattice structure.
Bearing chamber housing for a turbomachine
A bearing chamber housing for supporting a shaft of a turbomachine is provided, the bearing chamber housing including an additively built-up housing wall which bounds an oil chamber of the bearing chamber housing radially outwardly relative to an axis of rotation of the shaft, the housing wall being built up with an oil duct which has an inlet opening toward the oil chamber for admission of oil from the oil chamber into the oil duct, and which has an outlet opening for discharging the oil from the oil duct, the outlet opening being located at a different axial position and at a different circumferential position than the inlet opening, considered relative to the axis of rotation of the shaft, and the oil duct having an extent with both an axial component and a circumferential component, at least over a portion thereof.
