A geared turbofan engine includes a first rotor, a fan, a second rotor, a gear train, a fan casing, a nacelle and a plurality of discrete acoustic liner segments. The fan is connected to the first rotor and is capable of rotation at frequencies between 200 and 6000 Hz and has a fan pressure ratio of between 1.25 and 1.60. The gear train connects the first rotor to the second rotor. The fan casing and nacelle are arranged circumferentially about a centerline and define a bypass flow duct in which the fan is disposed. The plurality of discrete acoustic liner segments with varied geometric properties are disposed along the bypass flow duct.

A computing system for an unducted rotor engine with a variable pitch vane assembly in aerodynamic relationship with an unducted rotor assembly, including a sensor-based controller configured to execute a first set of operations and a model-based controller configured to execute a second set of operations. The first set of operations includes obtaining a first signal corresponding to a commanded low spool speed; obtaining a second signal indicative of a pitch angle corresponding to thrust output from the unducted rotor assembly and variable pitch vane assembly; generating a pitch feedback signal corresponding to a commanded adjustment to the pitch angle based at least on one or both of a variable blade pitch angle or a variable vane pitch angle. The second set of operations include obtaining a desired thrust output via a throttle input; determining, at least via a power management block, a commanded thrust output signal; receiving the commanded thrust output signal; and generating an output signal.

COOLING PASSAGE CONFIGURATION

A gas turbine engine article includes an article wall that has an inner portion at least partially defining a cavity and an outer portion. A plurality of first cooling passage networks each define first dimensions and are embedded in the article wall between the inner portion and the outer portion of the article wall. A plurality of second cooling passage networks each define second dimensions and are embedded into the article wall between the inner portion and the outer portions of the article wall. The plurality of first and second cooling passage networks are arranged in one of a first column of radially positioned networks and a second column of radially positioned networks. At least one cooling hole in the first column of radially positioned networks is located upstream of and radially aligned with at least one second mid-span wall between adjacent networks in the second column of networks.

A rotating machine includes a machine housing defining a housing interior, a shaft disposed in the housing interior, with the shaft having a length and an axis extending along the length. The shaft is rotatable about the axis. The rotating machine also includes an impeller wheel disposed in the housing interior and coupled to and rotatable by the shaft, with the impeller wheel having an angular position with respect to the axis. The rotating machine further includes a backplate coupled to the machine housing and having a first side facing the impeller wheel, at least one target element coupled to and rotatable with the impeller wheel, a circuit board coupled to the first side of the backplate and facing the impeller wheel, and at least one sensor disposed on the circuit board for detecting the at least one target element to determine the angular position of the impeller wheel.

Guiding ring for variable-pitch blades and method of mounting said ring

A ring for guiding variable-pitch blades and supporting an abradable coating for an aircraft turbomachine ring extends about an axis (X) and includes substantially radial orifices for mounting guiding sleeves intended each to receive a pivot of one of the blades. The ring may include a radially inner crown divided into sectors and supports the abradable coating. A radially outer annular ferrule may be divided into sectors and include the orifices for mounting the sleeves. In some embodiments, each ferrule sector is mounted about a crown sector by a circumferential sliding connection. The crown sector may include an immobilizer for rotationally immobilizing the sleeves of this ferrule sector about the axis.

REMOVEABLE FUSELAGE SHIELD FOR AN AIRCRAFT

An aircraft defining a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction is provided. The aircraft includes a fuselage; an engine mounted at a location spaced from the fuselage of the aircraft, the engine comprising rotor blades; and at least one fuselage shield removably coupled to the fuselage at a location in alignment with the rotor blades along the lateral direction.

Exhaust mixer with offset lobes

An exhaust mixer for a gas turbine engine where each outer lobe has at the downstream end a circumferential offset in a direction corresponding to that of the swirl component of the flow entering the mixer. The mixer has a crest line having at least a downstream portion curved with respect with respect to a circumferential direction of the mixer and/or a center line at the downstream end tilted with respect to a radial line extending to the tip of the outer lobe to define the circumferential offset. A method of mixing a core flow and a bypass flow surrounding the core flow with an annular mixer is also provided.

In an aspect of the present disclosure, an aircraft defining a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction is provided. The aircraft includes: a fuselage; a single unducted rotor engine mounted at a location spaced from the fuselage of the aircraft, the single unducted rotor engine comprising an unducted rotor assembly having a single stage of rotor blades; and a fuselage shield attached to or formed integrally with the fuselage at a location in alignment with the single stage of rotor blades of the unducted rotor assembly along the lateral direction.
