A gas turbine engine includes a rotor rotatable about a central axis. The gas turbine engine includes a turbine stage including a stationary portion and a rotating portion made up of a number of rotating blades and a plurality of stationary vanes arranged to define the stationary portion. Each stationary vane includes an inner rail having an inlet face, a suction side face, a pressure side face, and a platform. A vane portion extends along a radial line from the platform and defines one of a first stagger angle and a second stagger angle with respect to the central axis. The platform has an elliptical cross-section in a plane that includes the central axis.

Compressor rotor blade airfoils

A rotor blade includes an airfoil having an airfoil shape. The airfoil shape has a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in one of Table I, Table II, Table III, Table IV, Table V, Table VI, Table VII, Table VIII, or Table IX. The Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z are non-dimensional values from 0% to 100% convertible to dimensional distances expressed in a unit of distance by multiplying the Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z by a scaling factor of the airfoil in the unit of distance. The X and Y values, when connected by smooth continuing arcs, define airfoil profile sections at each Z value. The airfoil profile sections at Z values are joined smoothly with one another to form a complete airfoil shape.

A film-cooled gas turbine component for a gas turbine has a surface exposed to a hot gas and a number of film-cooling openings open out, which film-cooling openings combined to form at least one row transverse to a flow direction of the hot gas. Each of the film-cooling openings has a duct section and a diffuser section having an upstream diffuser edge, two diffuser longitudinal edges and a downstream diffuser edge. At least two immediately adjacent film-cooling openings, of the respective row have their duct axes of the respective duct sections laterally inclined relative to the local flow direction of the hot gas and their diffuser sections are formed asymmetrically with respect to a projection of the duct axis, such that immediately adjacent corner regions of the respective film-cooling openings are in alignment without the respective diffuser sections making contact with one another.

A gas passage that is connected to an exhaust passage and a water passage that is connected to a water jacket are formed in a turbine housing. The water passage and the gas passage are arranged adjacent to each other in an exhaust gas-introducing side joint part of the turbine housing, and a mating face in which the water passage opens and a mating face in which the gas passage opens are formed not to connect smoothly to each other. The turbine housing is attached to the cylinder head with an O-ring that prevents leakage of coolant interposed between the mating face and the cylinder head, and a seal member that prevents leakage of exhaust gas interposed between the mating face and the cylinder head.

RADIAL LIFT SEAL

A bearing compartment seal for a gas turbine engine includes a seal ring that defines an axis and has a radially inward facing sealing surface. A seal runner is configured to rotate relative to the seal ring. The seal runner has a runner surface facing the radially inward facing sealing surface. Erosion resistant and hydrophobic article

An erosion resistant and hydrophobic article includes a core that has a first hardness and a surface on the core. The surface includes a plurality of geometric features that have a second, greater hardness. The geometric features define a surface porosity by area percent and a corresponding surface solidity by area percent. The surface includes a ratio of the surface solidity divided by the surface porosity that is 1.8 or greater.
