ENGINE NACELLE FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
An engine pod for a gas turbine engine which includes a pod wall having an inside and an outside. The pod wall includes a fixed downstream portion and a displaceable upstream portion which is displaceable in the axial direction between a first upstream position and a second downstream position. At its downstream end facing the fixed portion, the upstream portion forms a radially outer rear edge and axially spaced therefrom a radially inner rear edge, with a recess in between. It is provided that adjacent to the recess, an air-permeable structure is formed in the upstream portion which is intended and configured, in the first upstream position of the displaceable portion, to conduct air flowing in the region of the recess to the inside of the displaceable portion. According to a further aspect of the invention, the axial position of the radially inner rear edge varies in the circumferential direction.
Aircraft propulsion system with variable area inlet
An assembly includes a variable area inlet and an inlet duct. The variable area inlet includes an inlet structure and a center body structure. The inlet structure extends circumferentially about the center body structure with an outer inlet passage radially between the center body structure and the inlet structure. The center body structure includes an outer body and an inner body. The outer body extends circumferentially about the inner body with an inner inlet passage radially between the inner and outer bodies. The inner body is configured to move along a centerline relative to the outer body between a first position and a second position. The inlet duct is fluidly coupled with the outer inlet passage when the inner body is in the first position. The inlet duct is fluidly coupled with the outer inlet passage and the inner inlet passage when the inner body is in the second position.
Outlet for ejecting a hot gas through an aircraft engine wall
A duct for evacuating hot air from an aircraft engine is extended by a movable stack that can project from the wall such that the hot air is ejected a distance from the wall without risk of damaging the wall. The stack can, however, be retracted by a control device under circumstances of moderate engine speed, with the advantage that the drag of the wall, generally an outer nacelle, is then reduced.
Single track translating inlet
A translating inlet assembly may comprise a first inlet portion and a second portion configured to translate relative to the first portion. A track may be located in the first portion. A rail may be coupled to the second portion and configured to translate along the track. The rail and the track may form a load bearing component configured to transfer inertial loads experienced by the second portion. A first actuator may be operationally coupled to the rail and configured to drive the rail along the track.
Nacelle with a translatable inlet for an aircraft propulsion system
A nacelle assembly includes a fixed inlet segment and a translating inlet segment. The translating inlet segment includes a slider beam laterally between a pair of tracks of the fixed inlet segment. The slider beam is mated with and slidable longitudinally along the pair of tracks. The translating inlet segment is configured to translate longitudinally between a retracted position and an extended position. An aft end of the translating inlet segment is abutted against a forward end of the fixed inlet segment when the translating inlet segment is in the retracted position. An airflow inlet into an inlet passage of the nacelle assembly is opened longitudinally between the aft end of the translating inlet segment and the forward end of the fixed inlet segment when the translating inlet segment is in the extended position.
Telescopic fan cage and apparatus case therewith
A telescopic fan cage includes a main frame and a side frame which are slidably connected with each other to form a fan installation space. The side frame is capable of sliding toward the main frame to shrink the fan installation space, or sliding away relative to the main frame to expand the fan installation space. An apparatus case includes a casing and the telescopic fan cage. The telescopic fan cage is detachably disposed in the casing. Therein, the side frame is capable of sliding toward the main frame to shrink the fan installation space, so that the telescopic fan cage is at a transit state for moving in or out the casing; the side frame is capable of sliding away relative to the main frame to expand the fan installation space, so that the telescopic fan cage is at an installation state for being fixed in the casing.
Wind turbine with a transportation system for moving drive train components
A wind turbine (1) comprising a tower (2) and one or more nacelles (3) mounted on the tower (2) is disclosed, at least one of the nacelle(s) (3) housing one or more drive train components (9,10,11) and a transportation system for moving drive train components (9,10,11) of the wind turbine (1). The transportation system comprises one or more sliding rails (15) configured to carry a drive train component (9, 10,11) during movement, and one or more sledges (19). Each sledge (19) is movably connected to a sliding rail (15), and configured to be attached to a drive train component (9,10,11), thereby allowing the drive train component (9,10,11) to move along the sliding rail(s) (15). Each sliding rail (15) comprises two or more rail modules (6,13,14) being detachably connected to each other along a direction of movement defined by the sliding rail (15).
Steam valve, and power generation system
A steam valve has a tubular stop valve configured to move toward an upper/lower end side along a direction of an axis when the stop valve is opened/closed; and a valve main body accommodating the stop valve, wherein a base end portion including an end portion of the stop valve at the upper end side is accommodated in a first accommodation space formed in the valve main body, the base end portion has a plurality of inclination surfaces formed on an outer circumference of the base end portion which are inclined such that a distance from the axis to each of the plurality of inclination surfaces decreases toward the upper end side, and a plurality of contact surfaces are formed in the first accommodation space to come in contact with the plurality of inclination surfaces respectively when the stop valve moves toward the upper end side.
Dual-mode plug nozzle
A method for controlling flow through an exhaust nozzle includes: providing a centerbody including a maximum diameter section; providing an inner shroud surrounding the centerbody, including at least a middle section of decreased diameter and terminating at an aft edge; providing an outer shroud. wherein the centerbody and the inner shroud collectively define a throat, and the outer shroud and the centerbody collectively define an exit; selectively translating the inner shroud and outer shroud to vary the throat; and selectively translating the outer shroud to vary the ratio of the exit to the throat; wherein, when the inner shroud is in a forward position, its aft edge is forward of the maximum diameter section of the centerbody, such that the throat of the nozzle is formed between the aft edge of the inner shroud and the centerbody.
