Segmented Annular Combustion System with Axial Fuel Staging

A segmented annular combustion system includes an alternating arrangement of fuel nozzles and integrated combustor nozzles. The fuel nozzles deliver fuel to the primary combustion zones. The integrated combustor nozzles include an inner liner segment, an outer liner segment, and a fuel injection panel extending between the liner segments. The fuel injection panel includes injection outlets on one or both side walls to deliver a combustible mixture to the secondary combustion zones. Each fuel injection panel, which provides a boundary between adjacent primary and secondary combustion zones, includes an aft end that defines a turbine nozzle. The segmented annular combustion system is part of a gas turbine.

The present application provides a nozzle for a gas turbine engine. The nozzle may include a band, a seal slot positioned within the band, an airfoil extending from the band, a cavity within the airfoil, and an embossment positioned about the band and the cavity.

Additively manufactured component including an impingement structure

An additively manufactured impingement structure for a component is provided. The control structure includes an outer wall, an inner wall, and an impingement wall positioned between the outer wall and the inner wall. A fluid distribution passageway is defined between the inner wall and the impingement wall and an impingement gap is defined between the impingement wall and the outer wall. A plurality of impingement holes are defined in the impingement wall to provide fluid communication between the fluid distribution passageway and the impingement gap. A flow of cooling or heating fluid may be supplied to the fluid distribution passageway which distributes the flow and impinges it through the impingement holes onto the outer wall to cool or heat the outer wall, respectively.

Disclosed herein is a gas turbine disk that includes a cooling target, and a disk unit having a main passage that is open to supply cooling air to the cooling target, and a plurality of unit passages that are open at an end of the main passage while each having a predetermined size.

Seal assembly with baffle for gas turbine engine

A seal assembly for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a seal that has an elongated seal body having a seal face that bounds a gas path and an opposed impingement face. The seal body defines an internal cavity extending in a circumferential direction between opposed mate faces and extending in a radial direction between walls of the seal body defining the seal and impingement faces. A baffle divides the internal cavity into at least a first region and a second region. The first region has a first section extending transversely from a second section. The first section has a component in the radial direction, and the second section has a component in an axial direction such that the second region is defined between the baffle and the walls of the seal body defining the seal face. A method of sealing is also disclosed.

AIRFOIL FOR TURBOMACHINE AND METHOD OF COOLING SAME

An airfoil for a turbomachine such as a gas turbine engine includes a switchbacked passage for conveying cooling fluid, and flow-distribution passages in a forward wall so as to direct cooling fluid from the internal passage for back side impingement upon a leading edge of the airfoil. An inner cooling wall forms a passage for discharging the spent cooling air from a trailing edge of the airfoil after impingement, and cools one of a pressure side and a suction side of the airfoil by way of conduction. The switchbacked passage may have a serpentine form.

Turbine rotor blade with integral impingement sleeve by additive manufacture

A turbine rotor blade is additively manufactured and includes an airfoil body with a radially extending chamber for receiving a coolant flow, a tip end at a radial outer end of the airfoil body, and a shank at a radial inner end of the airfoil body. The radially extending chamber extends at least partially into the shank to define a shank inner surface. An integral impingement cooling structure is within the radially extending chamber. The integral impingement cooling structure allows an exterior surface of a hollow body thereof to be uniformly spaced from the airfoil inner surface despite the curvature of the chamber. The turbine rotor blade has impingement cooling throughout the blade.
