Boost compressor assembly
A boost compressor assembly may comprise an outer annular structure and a plurality of blades. Each blade in the plurality of blades may be moveably coupled to the outer annular structure. The plurality of blades may be configured to deploy in response to the boost compressor assembly rotating. The plurality of blades may be configured to retract when the boost compressor assembly stops rotating.
Exhaust nozzle
There is disclosed an exhaust nozzle for a gas turbine engine, the exhaust nozzle comprising a frame extending along a longitudinal axis. The exhaust nozzle comprises a convergent petal pivotably attached at a convergent pivot point to the frame and extending axially downstream and radially inward from the frame, a follower roller fixed to the convergent petal on a radially outer side of the convergent petal, and a cam defining a working surface configured to engage the follower roller to react a force from the convergent petal. The cam is movable along a travel in an axial direction to actuate radial movement of the follower roller to pivot the convergent petal. The cam defines a concave working surface such that a contact angle between the follower roller and the cam varies along the travel to thereby vary a radial component of the force reacted by the cam.
Unison member for variable guide vane
A variable guide vane (VGV) assembly for a gas turbine engine, has: variable guide vanes circumferentially distributed about a central axis, the variable guide vanes rotatable about respective spanwise axes; and a unison member rollingly engageable to a casing of the gas turbine engine for rotation about the central axis, the unison member operatively connected to the variable guide vanes for rotating the variable guide vanes about the respective spanwise axes, the unison member having: a first ring extending around the central axis, a second ring spaced apart from the first ring and extending around the central axis, and connecting members connecting the first ring to the second ring.
Variable geometry turbocharger
A variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) is provided. The VGT includes a unison ring that rotates a plurality of vanes disposed in a nozzle ring and a sagging prevention mechanism. The sagging prevention mechanism is installed to support the unison ring in a direction opposite to a direction in which a self-weight of the unison ring acts. In particular, the sagging prevention mechanism includes a support pulley that is installed to provide an elastic pressure on an outer circumferential surface of the unison ring in rolling contact therewith.
Nacelle with thrust reverser
A nacelle for an aircraft having a thrust reverser including a translating cowl and a blocking panel. The blocking panel is connected by a pivot connection and is connected to the translating cowl by a sliding connection including an engagement member slidingly engaged in a track, the track having a first portion parallel to the longitudinal axis of the outer casing and a second portion non-parallel to the longitudinal axis. Motion of the translating cowl along the longitudinal axis slides the engagement member within the track, and is performed without moving the blocking panel when the engagement member is within the first portion of the track. The motion of the translating cowl causes the blocking panel to pivot about the pivot connection when the engagement member is within the second portion of the track.
Turbofan comprising a set of rotatable blades for blocking off the bypass flow duct
A turbofan having a nacelle comprising a slider mobile in translation between an advanced and a retracted position to open a window between a duct and the exterior, a plurality of blades, each one mobile in rotation on the slider between a stowed and a deployed position, where the blades are split into groups, where each group comprises a first blade, and a maneuvering system moving each blade and comprising a cam integral with the first blade of one of the groups and having a tooth, a groove receiving the tooth, a first transmission system transmitting the movement of the first blade bearing the cam to a first blade of each other group, and, for each group, a second transmission system transmitting the movement of the blade that bears the cam or is moved by the first transmission system to each of the other blades of the group.
System for adjusting a variable position vane in an aircraft engine
A system for adjusting a variable position vane in an aircraft engine is disclosed. The system comprises a servo valve operatively connected to the variable position vane and configured to cause adjustment of the variable position vane based on a pressure of air pressurized by a compressor of the aircraft engine.
Turbocharger
A turbocharger includes a turbine housing configured to accommodate a turbine wheel provided at one end of a rotation shaft, a bearing housing joined to the turbine housing and in which a bearing for supporting the rotation shaft is provided; and a variable nozzle unit that is disposed between the turbine housing and the bearing housing. The variable nozzle unit includes a nozzle ring disposed around a rotation axis of the rotation shaft and a support ring provided adjacent to the nozzle ring that includes an outer peripheral portion partially in contact with the turbine housing. One or more non-contact portions are formed in the outer peripheral portion of the support ring and do not contact the turbine housing.
FLUID MEASUREMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SAME
A measurement system for an aircraft gas turbine engine includes an instrumentation hub disposed about a rotational axis. The instrumentation hub includes at least one probe. The measurement system further includes a shield hub disposed about the rotational axis and positioned axially adjacent the instrumentation hub. The shield hub includes at least one shield configured to be radially aligned with the at least one probe of the instrumentation hub. The shield hub is rotatable about the rotational axis independent of the instrumentation hub. The at least one shield is axially translatable between a first axial position and a second axial position. The at least one shield in the first axial position is axially aligned with the at least one probe. The at least one shield in the second axial position is axially separated from the at least one probe.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE HAVING AN ACCESSORY GEARBOX
A gas turbine engine has an accessory gearbox disposed outside of a bypass channel and connected to a housing part, which radially delimits the bypass channel, in a connection region near the housing part and in a connection region far from the housing part. A connecting element is provided between the housing part and the connection region far from the housing part. A longitudinal axis of the connecting element includes an angle in the range of 75° to 115° with a vertical axis of the accessory gearbox. The connecting element can vary a distance between the far connection region and a connection point of the connecting element on the housing part such that deformation of the housing part and a resulting position change of the connection point cause a lesser deflection of the accessory gearbox than a deflection with an unchanged length of the connecting element.
