Defrosting a drain hole
The invention relates to an assembly (10) for a turbomachine comprising a pipe (12) connected at one end (12a) to means (14) for supplying pressurized air and at one opposite end (12b) to an item of equipment (16) of the turbomachine, the pipe (12) having a bent portion (12c) intended for forming in use a low point of the pipe (12), said bent portion (12c) having a hole (18) for first draining water from the pipe (12), wherein it further comprises an orifice (20) arranged downstream of the drain hole (18).
IMPENDING BYPASS SWITCH WITH MAGNETIC SENSOR
An impending bypass switch includes a housing having a fluid inlet for admitting fluid into an interior of the housing. A piston is displaceable in the interior of the housing in response to a pressure variation of the fluid in the interior. A magnetic sensor is configured to receive a current and is fixedly mounted to the housing. A magnet is mounted to the piston to be displaced with the piston. Displacement of the magnet relative to the magnetic sensor causes a change in the current through the magnetic sensor. The change in the current is indicative of an impending bypass of a component.
SEGMENTED AUGMENTED TURBINE ASSEMBLY
A segmented augmented turbine assembly for generating electricity from a fluid in motion, the assembly comprising a segmented annular ducted channel extending between an inlet receiving the fluid and an outlet, the channel comprising a convergent accelerating the fluid, a segmented turbine-rotor section comprising blades and guide vanes rotating about a central shaft coupled to a generator, and a diffuser section configured to decelerate the fluid, wherein the channel comprises solid inserts attached to an outside face of the turbine-rotor section, the flow stream passing through open flow-through segments positioned between the solid inserts.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS ASSOCIATED WITH A REMOVABLE INLET SHIELD
An inlet shield with a first portion that is configured to be secured to an inlet of a turbocharger, and a second portion that is configured to be removably coupled to the first portion via magnets, wherein different second portions may have different mesh layouts allowing a consumer to choose different levels of protection and air flow based on desired use.
ATTACHABLE DUST FILTER FOR A CONVENTIONAL CIRCULATION FAN
An attachable air filter medium for attachment to a conventional circulation fan is disclosed comprising a netting fabric filter medium being adapted to fit over the rear half of the conventional circulation fan's housing for filtering dust particles in air coming into the circulation fan preventing dust buildup on the fan blade thus eliminate the need to periodically clean the fan.
Anti-contamination baffle for cooling air systems
An aircraft engine cooling air system is configured to provide cooling air to turbine components. The system has an airflow path extending from a source of cooling air to the turbine components. A baffle is disposed in the airflow path upstream of the turbine components. The baffle has a filtering surface defining a plurality of filtering holes sized to trap particulate matter suspended in the cooling air. A bypass passage is fluidly connected to the source of cooling air and the turbine components in parallel with the baffle so as to allow airflow to the turbine components when the filtering holes of the baffle are clogged.
Gas turbine engine and associated method of controlling a valve
The method can include sensing operating conditions of the gas turbine engine; generating a base value signal of a control parameter of the bleed valve based on the sensed operating conditions and on control data; determining whether a contaminant management condition is met; generating a control value signal of the control parameter including the base value signal and, when the contaminant management conditions is met, the control value signal further including a contaminant management signal of the control parameter value of the valve superposed to the base value signal, the contaminant management signal including at least three successive back and forth fluctuations of the control parameter value relative the base value signal over a period of 10 seconds or less; and controlling an actuator of the bleed valve based on the control value signal.
Apparatus for removing particulate matter from bleed gas
An intake device for a gas turbine engine includes a snorkel and a housing. The snorkel includes a tubular body and an inlet aperture. The tubular body extends between a closed end and an open end opposite the closed end. The inlet aperture is formed through the tubular body proximate the closed end. The housing is mounted to the snorkel. The housing includes an inner wall, an outer wall, a side wall, a settling chamber, and an outlet tube. The inner wall is adjacent the snorkel. The outer wall is opposite the inner wall. The side wall extends from the inner wall to the outer wall. The settling chamber is within the side wall between the inner wall and the outer wall. The settling chamber is fluidly coupled with the open end. The outlet tube extends through the housing from the settling chamber to an exterior of the housing.
Method and a device for estimating the health of a power plant of an aircraft having at least one engine and a cloggable filter filtering air upstream from the engine
A checking method for checking a power plant of an aircraft, the power plant comprising at least one engine and an air inlet for feeding said at least one engine with air, the power plant including a cloggable filter filtering the air upstream from the engine. An aircraft power check is performed by: determining, in flight or on the ground, the current power actually being developed by the engine without making any allowance for any power losses resulting from the engine being installed in the aircraft or from a level of clogging of the filter, the aircraft power check being considered as being successful when the current power is greater than or equal to a guaranteed minimum power.
DEPOLLUTED TURBOMACHINE TEST BENCH
A depolluted test bench (I) for a turbomachine includes a channeled air duct with an air inlet and an air outlet to allow a flow of air between the air inlet and the air outlet. The channeled air duct includes a test chamber) for testing a turbomachine, the test chamber being located between the air inlet and the air outlet. A depolluting system is positioned in the air duct to depollute an air flow generated at least in part by a test of said turbomachine in the test bench. Control means control the depolluting system to allow the depolluting system to be switched on or off when a test of the turbomachine is started or stopped.
