Lockwire Tab Backcut For Blade Stress Reduction (9E.04)
The present application thus provides a method for reducing stress on a turbine blade wherein each of the turbine blades includes a dovetail with lockwire tab. The method may include the steps of (a) determining a starting line for a backcut relative to a lockwire tab end, (b) determining a cut angle for the backcut, and (c) removing material from the lockwire tab according to the starting line and the cut angle to form the dovetail backcut. The starting line may be positioned about 0.6 inches (about 15.24 millimeters), plus or minus 0.065 inches (about 1.65 millimeters) from the lockwire tab end along the dovetail axis.
Axial retention of a platform seal
A gas turbine engine component has an axial seal pin assembly for sealing between adjacent platform regions where the seal pin assembly design provides a seal pin damper slot extending to a forward axial stop in a forward buttress region. The forward axial stop includes a relief slot to interrupt the loadpath from the airfoil into the blade neck and attachment regions to reduce the stress concentrations in these regions.
VANE MADE OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL COMPRISING METALLIC REINFORCEMENTS, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH A VANE
A method for manufacturing a blade made of composite material for a turbine engine, in particular of an aircraft, the steps of injecting a resin in order to impregnate a fibrous preform woven in three dimensions and polymerizing the resin so as to form the blade that includes an airfoil, one longitudinal end of which is connected to a platform. The platform includes pressure and suction portions connected to the airfoil by a fillet, wherein a separation is formed in the fibrous preform between the pressure and suction portions. The method further includes reinforcing a leading edge of the airfoil; and reinforcing the fillets by integration of a metal reinforcement on at least one part of the pressure and suction portions of the platform and in the separation.
CONTOURED RETAINING RING
A retaining ring assembly for a gas turbine engine may include a first engine component and a second engine component. A retaining ring may be disposed between the first engine component and the second engine component. The retaining ring may be circumferentially discontinuous and may include a first terminal portion having at least one of a tapered or a contoured geometry. A thickness of the retaining ring at the first terminal portion may be less than a thickness of the retaining ring away from the first terminal portion.
BLADE WITH STRESS-REDUCING BULBOUS PROJECTION AT TURN OPENING OF COOLANT PASSAGES
A blade includes an airfoil defined by a pressure side outer wall and a suction side outer wall connecting along leading and trailing edges and forming a radially extending coolant receiving chamber. A rib partitions the radially extending chamber into a first passage on a first side of the rib and an adjacent second passage on an opposing second side of the rib. Each passage is enclosed at an end of the radially extending chamber by an end member of the radially extending chamber. A turn opening is defined in an end of the rib through which the coolant passes between the first passage and the second passage within the end member of the radially extending chamber. A bulbous projection extends along the end of the rib and on opposing radially extending sides of the turn opening to reduce stress in the rib and/or connecting fillets.
ELECTRIC SUBMERSIBLE PUMP SYSTEMS
A protector for an electric submersible pump includes a plurality of chambers, with adjacent or consecutive pairs of chambers coupled, e.g., fluidly coupled, via a series or parallel body. The body defines two separate hydraulic circuits, which allows for the inclusion of a shaft seal, even when the body couples consecutive chambers in a parallel configuration or couples to a thrust bearing chamber. The shaft tube circuit can include a compensator and/or a relief valve.
TURBINE BLADE, AND TURBINE AND GAS TURBINE INCLUDING THE SAME
Disclosed herein are a grooved turbine blade, and a turbine and a gas turbine including the same. According to the disclosure, since a groove part is formed on a root member to disperse torsional stress, it is possible to improve durability of a rotor disk to which the turbine blade is assembled.
Transition piece, combustor, and gas turbine engine
Provided is a transition piece including a first flow path group formed by arraying a plurality of in-wall flow paths that extend inside a plate material forming the transition piece and a second flow path group that is positioned on a side closer to a combustor liner than the first flow path group is. Each in-wall flow path in the first flow path group and the second flow path group has an inlet that is located at one end section in a flow direction of a combustion gas and that faces a compressed air main flow path, and an outlet that is located at the other end section in the flow direction of the combustion gas and that faces a combustion gas flow path. An installation area of the first flow path group and an installation area of the second flow path group partially overlap in the flow direction of the combustion gas by a predetermined overlap amount, and the overlap amount is set large for a portion where a shape change of the transition piece is relatively large, as compared with a portion where the shape change of the transition piece is relatively small.
Reduced vibratory response rotor for a gas powered turbine
A rotor for a turbomachine includes a rim defining a base of a rotor, an airfoil shaped blade extending from said rim and defining a chord line and a bore extending from said rim opposite said airfoil shaped blade. The rim further includes at least one rail extending away from said airfoil shaped blade.
AIR TURBINE STARTER
An air turbine starter that includes a housing. The housing can circumscribe a turbine coupled that is coupled to a gear train in a gear box via a drive shaft. The gear train can couple to an output shaft via at least a carrier. The air turbine starter can include at least a first bearing assembly and a second bearing assembly to rotatably support one or more of the drive shaft, the carrier, or the output shaft.
