The invention relates to a device for starting a gas turbine, comprising an initiation system able, on command, to rotate said gas turbine.
The starting device comprises means for receiving information representing the rotation speed of the gas turbine, means for calculating a set torque value according to said information representing the rotation speed of the gas turbine, and means for transmitting said set torque value to the initiation system, and the means for calculating the set torque value are suitable for making a comparison of the information representing the rotation speed of the gas turbine with a predetermined speed profile and calculating the set torque value from said comparison.

A system has: a combustor; a plenum surrounding the combustor; a transfer tube having an inlet fluidly connected to the plenum and at least two outlets, a first flow passageway defined between the inlet and a first outlet, a second flow passageway defined between the inlet and a second outlet, the second flow passageway connected to a discharge region outside of the plenum; a flow valve disposed within the second flow passageway and operable between an open position and a closed position, in the open position the flow valve fluidly connects the plenum with the discharge region, in the closed position the flow valve blocking fluid communication between the plenum and the discharge region; and a controller communicatively coupled to the flow valve to control operation thereof by: causing the flow valve to open for a time period; and subsequent to the time period, causing the flow valve to close.

A method for regulating the temperature of the exhaust gases of a turbomachine, the method including regulation of the injection of fuel into a combustion chamber of the turbomachine so that the turbomachine generates a target thrust; regulation of the injection of mechanical power by an electric motor onto a shaft driven in rotation by a turbine, the electric motor being activated when a clearance between a casing and the blades of the turbine exceeds a threshold value.
Compositions and methods for disaggregation of biological tissue samples
Devices and methods for the efficient disaggregation of tissue samples, separating the tissue into individual intact cells or small aggregates of cells for analysis. A device may include a chamber to receive fluid and a tissue specimen containing more than one cell to be disaggregated. The chamber may include an opening and an agitator in fluid contact with the fluid and the tissue specimen. The agitator may include a micromotor which provides rotational motion to a shaft and an impeller fixed to the shaft such that the impeller and the shaft rotate together upon provision of the rotational motion by the micromotor. The device may include an electrical energy source electrically coupled to the micromotor to rotate the impeller sufficient to disaggregate the one or more individual cells from the tissue specimen and in a manner which does not lyse the one or more individual cells.

Herein provided is a signal processing device for use in an aircraft engine with a variable geometry mechanism (VGM) and associated systems and methods. The signal processing device comprises a processing unit and a non-transitory computer-readable memory communicatively coupled to the processing unit. The memory has stored thereon computer-readable program instructions executable by the processing unit for: obtaining a VGM position request signal; determining whether a variation of the VGM position request signal is within a predetermined range; when the variation of the VGM position request signal is within the predetermined range: filtering the VGM position request signal to reduce a level of noise in the VGM position request signal; and transmitting the filtered VGM position request signal; and when the variation of the VGM position request signal is not within the predetermined range, transmitting a processed signal, based on the VGM position request signal.

DIRECT DRIVE ELECTRICALLY-GEARED TURBOFAN
A direct drive electrically-geared turbofan is provided via a first magnetic gearbox assembly connected to a fan of a turbofan engine; a second magnetic gearbox assembly connected to a spool shaft of the turbofan engine; and a speed controller configured to adjust a rotational speed of the fan based on a rotational speed of the spool shaft by selectively coupling and decoupling the first magnetic gearbox assembly with the second magnetic gearbox assembly. In various aspects, the first or second magnetic gearbox assembly includes a permanent magnet array, while a different one of the first or second magnetic gearbox assemblies includes a rotor winding separated from the permanent magnet array by an air gap; and the speed controller is configured to selectively couple and decouple the first and second magnetic gearbox assemblies with each other via controlling a switch in a winding circuit with the rotor winding.

The invention concerns a method for monitoring the operating state of a system for positioning variable-geometry members (18) of a turbomachine (10), the members (18) being configured to travel over an operating area comprising a first position P1 and a second position P2, the method comprising the steps of: -(E23) determining a first pivoting speed V1 from the first position P1 to the second position P2; -(E25) determining a second pivoting speed from the second position P2 to the first position P1; and -(E26) determining an anomaly in the operation of the system for positioning the members (18) if the first speed V1 is lower than a first determined speed threshold and/or if the second speed V2 is lower than a second determined speed threshold.
