A method for providing thermo-acoustic coupling of a gas turbine engine augmentor includes determining acoustic resonances and heat release phase relationships associated with the augmentor. A fuel injector of the augmentor is positioned at an axial position relative to a flame holder of the augmentor in response to the determined acoustic resonances and heat release phase relationships associated with the augmentor. Heat release and acoustic pressure oscillation cycles associated with the augmentor are out of phase by at least approximately 100 degrees.
COMBUSTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ATTENUATION OF COMBUSTION DYNAMICS IN A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
The present disclosure is directed to a method of operating a combustion system to attenuate combustion dynamics. The method includes flowing, via a compressor section, an overall supply of air to the combustion system; flowing, via a fuel supply system, an overall flow of fuel to the combustion system; flowing, to a first fuel nozzle of the combustion system, a first supply of fuel defining a richer burning fuel-air mixture at the first fuel nozzle; flowing, to a second fuel nozzle of the combustion system, a second supply of fuel defining a leaner burning fuel-air mixture at the second fuel nozzle; and igniting the richer burning fuel-air mixture and the leaner burning fuel-air mixture to produce an overall fuel-air ratio at a combustion chamber of the combustion system.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPERATING A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A system has: a combustor; a plenum surrounding the combustor; a transfer tube having an inlet fluidly connected to the plenum and at least two outlets, a first flow passageway defined between the inlet and a first outlet, a second flow passageway defined between the inlet and a second outlet, the second flow passageway connected to a discharge region outside of the plenum; a flow valve disposed within the second flow passageway and operable between an open position and a closed position, in the open position the flow valve fluidly connects the plenum with the discharge region, in the closed position the flow valve blocking fluid communication between the plenum and the discharge region; and a controller communicatively coupled to the flow valve to control operation thereof by: causing the flow valve to open for a time period; and subsequent to the time period, causing the flow valve to close.
FLAME TRANSFER FUNCTION MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR PREDICTING AND REDUCING COMBUSTION INSTABILITY
The present disclosure relates to a flame transfer function measurement system for predicting and reducing combustion instability in which is possible to obtain at once the flame transfer function in the full frequency range by conducting the test while automatically converting the range of the frequency to be measured. Accordingly, there is no need to conduct the test repeatedly while changing the frequency, and therefore, there is an effect of obtaining the flame transfer function in the full frequency range in a very short period of time.

PRE-START MOTORING SYNCHRONIZATION FOR MULTIPLE ENGINES
An aspect includes a method for motoring control for multiple engines of an aircraft is provided. A controller can determine a motoring time of a first engine starting system to cool a first engine. The controller can compare the motoring time of the first engine starting system with a motoring time of one or more other engine starting systems of one or more other engines of the aircraft. The motoring time of the first engine starting system can be controlled relative to a tolerance of the motoring time of the one or more other engine starting systems by adjusting the motoring time of the first engine starting system relative to the one or more other engine starting systems in a motoring sequence based on comparing the motoring time of the first engine starting system with the motoring time of the one or more other engine starting systems.
Method and device to control a fuel split in a combustion device
A method, control unit and rotating machine for determining a fuel split setting value for adjusting a fuel split setting for a combustion device, the fuel split setting defining a relation between main fuel and pilot fuel. The method includes: retrieving a first information item correlated to heating value of supplied main fuel; retrieving a second information item correlated to combustor operating condition; retrieving at least one third information item representing stability of combustion; selecting a predefined pair of minimum and maximum boundary curves for the fuel split setting from a plurality of predefined pairs based on the first and second information items, the minimum and maximum boundary curves defining a band of fuel split settings permitted for a range of second information item values; determining the fuel split setting value within the selected pair of minimum and maximum boundary curves based on the third information item.
Vibration control for a gas turbine engine
A method for operating a gas turbine engine includes receiving data indicative of an operational vibration within a section of the gas turbine engine; and providing electrical power to a shaker mechanically coupled to one or more components of the section of the gas turbine engine to generate a canceling vibration to reduce or minimize the operational vibration within the section of the gas turbine engine.
Fuel systems
A fuel system can include a total flow line configured to receive a total flow and a primary flow line connected to the total flow line. The primary flow line can be in fluid communication with one or more primary fuel nozzles of a nozzle assembly. The fuel system can include a secondary flow line connected to the total flow line in parallel with the primary flow line, the secondary flow line in fluid communication with a plurality of secondary flow nozzles of the nozzle assembly. The fuel system can include a flow split system configured to control a flow split between a primary flow of the primary flow line and a secondary flow of the secondary flow line.

An aspect includes a system for pre-start motoring control for multiple engines of an aircraft. The system includes a first engine starting system of a first engine and a controller. The controller is operable to control a motoring time of the first engine starting system relative to one or more other engine starting systems of one or more other engines of the aircraft by adjusting the motoring time of the first engine starting system within a tolerance of the motoring time of the one or more other engine starting systems in a pre-start motoring sequence.
