The present disclosure is directed to a method of control of a gas turbine engine comprising a fan section coupled to a low turbine together defining a low spool, an intermediate compressor coupled to an intermediate turbine together defining an intermediate spool, and a high compressor coupled to a high turbine together defining a high spool. The method includes providing an intermediate spool speed to low spool speed characteristic curve to a controller; providing a commanded power output to the controller; providing one or more of an environmental condition to the controller; determining, via the controller, a commanded fuel flow rate; determining, via the controller, a commanded intermediate compressor loading; and generating an actual power output of the engine, wherein the actual power output is one or more of an actual low spool speed, an actual intermediate spool speed, an actual high spool speed, and an actual engine pressure ratio.
Method of selective combustor control for reduced emissions
A method, including: operating an industrial gas turbine engine having a plurality of combustor cans arranged in an annular array, each can having burner stages and a pilot burner arrangement having a premix pilot burner and a diffusion pilot burner; operating in asymmetric combustion, wherein at least one can is a warm can where respective burners stages are off and remaining cans operate as hot cans where respective burner stages are on; and while maintaining a constant rate of fuel flow to the pilot burner arrangement of the warm can, changing fuel fractions within the pilot burner arrangement of the warm can.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE AND METHODS OF CONTROLLING EMISSIONS THEREFROM
A gas turbine engine that includes a stage of guide vanes, a compressor downstream from the stage of guide vanes, and a combustor downstream from the compressor. The combustor includes a primary combustion zone and a secondary combustion zone downstream from the primary combustion zone. The primary combustion zone includes an exit configured to channel combustion gases towards the secondary combustion zone. A controller is communicatively coupled with the stage of guide vanes, the controller configured to monitor a temperature at the exit of the primary combustion zone, and selectively open and close the guide vanes to maintain the temperature within a predefined temperature range.

An example system includes a gas-turbine configured to generate mechanical energy using fuel; an electrical generator configured to generate electrical energy using the mechanical energy generated by the gas-turbine; an electrical converter configured to process the electrical energy generated by the electrical generator; and a converter controller configured to reduce, responsive to detecting occurrence of a fault in the electrical generator or the electrical converter, an amount of fuel provided to the gas-turbine.
Automated tuning of gas turbine combustion systems
The present disclosure provides a tuning system for tuning the operation of a gas turbine. The system comprises operational turbine controls for controlling operational control elements of the turbine, including at least one of turbine fuel distribution or the fuel temperature. The system also has a tuning controller communicating with the turbine controls. The tuning controller is configured to tune the operation of the turbine in accordance with the following steps: receiving operational data about the turbine, providing a hierarchy of tuning issues, determining whether sensed operational data is within predetermined operational limits and producing one or more indicators. If the operational data is not within predetermined operational limits, the tuning controller will rank the one or more indicators to determine dominant tuning concern, and tune the operation of the turbine based on dominant tuning concern. Also provided herein are a method and computer readable medium for tuning.
Methods and systems for supplying fuel to gas turbine engines
Methods and systems for supply of fuel for a turbine-driven fracturing pump system used in hydraulic fracturing may be configured to identify when the supply pressure of primary fuel to a plurality of gas turbine engines of a plurality of hydraulic fracturing units falls below a set point, identify a gas turbine engine of the fleet of hydraulic fracturing units operating on primary fuel with highest amount of secondary fuel available, and to selectively transfer the gas turbine engine operating on primary fuel with the highest amount of secondary fuel from primary fuel operation to secondary fuel operation. Some methods and systems may be configured to transfer all gas turbine engines to secondary fuel operation and individually and/or sequentially restore operation to primary fuel operation and/or to manage primary fuel operation and/or secondary fuel operation for portions of the plurality of gas turbine engines.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FILLING A FUEL MANIFOLD OF A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
Systems and method for filling a fuel manifold comprising at least a primary and a second manifold of a gas turbine engine are described. The method comprises providing fuel flow to the secondary manifold of the gas turbine engine, the secondary manifold being partly or completely empty; monitoring at least one engine operational parameter of the gas turbine engine as fuel fills the secondary manifold; and accelerating the engine when a transition threshold is reached, the transition threshold being associated with the engine operational parameter and indicative that fuel has reached the combustor.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SUPPLY OF FUEL TO A COMBUSTION CHAMBER OF A TURBINE ENGINE, FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM AND TURBINE ENGINE
A method for controlling the fuel injection of a turbine engine using a fuel supply circuit. The supply circuit includes a pilot injection line and a main injection line. During a transition of the supply distribution between the pilot injection line and the main supply line, the method includes the following steps: a) determining at least a minimum value to be maintained for a pressure value; b) determining at least one hydraulic quantity of the supply circuit; c) based on the determined hydraulic quantity of the supply circuit, calculating a calculated fuel supply distribution value corresponding to the minimum value to be maintained; and switching the fuel supply distribution to the calculated fuel distribution value.
CONTROLLER AND METHOD
A controller for a gas turbine is arranged to supply a load L. The gas turbine includes a fuel supply arranged to supply fuel at a fuel flow rate FF to a combustor, wherein the fuel supply includes a first fuel supply and a second fuel supply. The controller is arranged to determine one or more ratios R of one or more combustor operating parameters COP respectively at the load L to respective reference combustor operating parameters COPR at a reference load LR. The controller is further arranged to control a proportion P of the fuel flow rate FF supplied via the first fuel supply based, at least in part, on the determined one or more ratios R. A gas turbine with the controller and a method controls the gas turbine.
