Steam turbine, a steam turbine nozzle, and a method of managing moisture in a steam turbine

A hydrophilic surface pattern on a removal surface of a steam turbine directs surface moisture in at least one predetermined direction to enhance moisture management by enhancing moisture removal or otherwise reducing erosion caused by moisture in the steam turbine. In some embodiments, the removal surface is located on the outer surface of the nozzle wall adjacent an extraction opening. In some embodiments, the removal surface is located on the surface of the bucket and directs moisture toward the turbine rotor. In some embodiments, the removal surface is located on the surface of the turbine casing or the surface of the nozzle and directs moisture toward a drain in the turbine casing. The hydrophilic surface pattern is preferably laser-etched as a nano-scale pattern to create the hydrophilic surface. In some embodiments, the hydrophilic surface pattern creates a superhydrophilic surface.

Hybrid rolling bearing, particularly for refrigerant compressor

A Hybrid rolling bearing includes an inner raceway and an outer raceway and a plurality of rolling elements arranged therebetween. The outer raceway and the inner raceway are made from bearing steel, having a first surface RMS roughness R.sub.q1. The rolling elements are made from a ceramic material and have second surface RMS roughnesses R.sub.q2,i. At least one of the rolling elements has an increased surface RMS roughness R.sub.q2,N, which is significantly higher than the RMS roughnesses R.sub.q2,i, of the remaining rolling elements. The hybrid rolling bearing can be installed within a refrigerant compressor.

Gas turbine

A gas turbine includes a compressor rotor having a plurality of compressor rotor disks installed therein; a turbine rotor having a plurality of turbine rotor disks installed therein; a connection part connecting the compressor rotor and the turbine rotor to each other; a tie rod extended through the central axes of the plurality of compressor rotor disks and the central axes of the plurality of turbine rotor disks; and a clamping member forced onto the tie rod in the an axial direction of the tie rod so as to be rotated with the tie rod, and relatively rotated with respect to the an inner circumferential surface of the connection part, thereby damping vibration and shock.

Airfoil machine components polishing method

A polishing method is described for polishing a machine component comprising at least one airfoil portion comprised of a suction side, a pressure side, a leading edge and a trailing edge. The method provides for arranging the machine component in a container and constraining the machine component to the container. A polishing mixture is added in the container, and the container is caused to vibrate together with the machine component constrained thereto, thereby generating a polishing mixture flow along the airfoil portion until a final arithmetic average roughness is achieved.

A packing seal is provided for a system for sealing the shaft of a primary motor-driven pump unit of a nuclear reactor, intended to ensure sealing between the primary circuit and the atmosphere. The packing seal including a rotary active surface and a floating active surface, in which a face of the floating active surface and/or the rotary active surface is micro- or nano-structured by an array of holes or pillars, each hole or pillar having lateral dimensions and a height of between 10 nm and 5 m, the distance between two consecutive holes or pillars being between 10 nm and 5 m.

Abrasive blade tips with additive layer resistant to clogging

An abrasive tip comprises an additive layer having an additive; the additive is configured to prevent adhesion of an organic component from an abradable seal onto an abrasive blade tip.

Kind of uniform strengthening methods of turbine blade subjected to varied square-spot laser shock peening with stagger multiple-layer
10640844 · 2020-05-05 · ·

A method for laser shock peening (LSP) to uniformly strengthen metallic components uses varied square-spot LSP with stagger multiple-layer. Each layer is subjected to square-spot LSP treatment, without overlapping. The length of square-spot in the first layer is larger than those in the second layer and third layers, and the length of square-spot in the second layer is equal to that in the third layer. The first layer treated by LSP is used to reduce deeper localized compressive residual stress, and the second and third layers imparted by square-spot LSP with staggered distance are used to eliminate of the boundary effect and decrease surface roughness.
