The invention concerns a turbine component, such as a turbine blade or a distributor fin, for example, comprising a substrate made from single-crystal nickel superalloy, and a metal sublayer covering the substrate, characterised in that the metal sublayer comprises at least two elementary layers, including a first elementary layer and a second elementary layer, the first elementary layer being arranged between the substrate and the second elementary layer, each elementary layer comprising a γ′-Ni.sub.3Al phase, and optionally a γ-Ni phase, and in that the average atomic fraction of aluminum in the second elementary layer is strictly greater than the average atomic fraction of aluminum in the first elementary layer.

Turbine systems with sealing components

A turbine system including a sealing component is presented. The sealing component is positioned in a gap between adjacent turbine components of the turbine system. The sealing component includes a metallic shim including a high-temperature-resistant alloy in a single crystal form. A turbine shroud assembly including the sealing component is also presented.

Arcuate Seed Casting Method

A casting method includes: forming a seed, the seed having a first end and a second end, the forming including bending a seed precursor; placing the seed second end in contact or spaced facing relation with a chill plate; contacting the first end with molten material; and cooling and solidifying the molten material so that a crystalline structure of the seed propagates into the solidifying material. The forming further included reducing a thickness of the seed proximate the first end relative to a thickness of the seed proximate the second end.

Method of making a single-crystal turbine blade

A single-crystal turbine blade and a method of making such single-crystal turbine blade are disclosed. During manufacturing, a secondary crystallographic orientation of the material of the single-crystal turbine blade is controlled based on a parameter of a root fillet between an airfoil of the single-crystal turbine blade and a platform of the single-crystal turbine blade. The parameter can be a location of peak stress in the root fillet expected during use of the turbine blade.

PVD barrier coating for superalloy substrates

A layered stack that can be used as an oxidation and chemical barrier with superalloy substrates, including Ni, Ni—Co, Co, and Ni-aluminide based substrates, and methods of preparing the layered stack. The layer system can be applied to a substrate in a single physical vapor deposition process with no interruption of vacuum conditions.

TURBINE COMPONENT WITH A THIN INTERIOR PARTITION
