FEATURE SET AND METHODS FOR A DIGITAL POSITIONER
A digital positioner for a valve includes a valve controller configured to obtain a set point value for a valve travel of a valve, and generate a pulse-width modulated current signal based on the set point value. The digital positioner also includes a current-to-pressure converter configured to receive the pulse-width modulated current signal from the valve controller, convert the pulse-width modulated current signal to a pulse-width modulated pressure signal, and provide the pulse-width modulated pressure signal to a pneumatic actuator in the valve to adjust a position of the valve.
NEGATIVE DOWNFORCE SYSTEM FOR GROUND ENGAGING MACHINERY
A downforce control system for an agricultural ground engaging unit provides individual control of each agricultural ground engaging row unit by providing a proportional pressure control valve connected to the retracting chamber of a double acting cylinder which varies the upward force produced by the retracting chamber of the cylinder against a constant counteracting downward force produced by an extending chamber of the cylinder, the valve control based on a comparison of a sensed resultant downward force on the agricultural ground engaging row unit and a predetermined target downward force.
Artificial muscle stacks comprising alternatingly offset artificial muscle layers
An artificial muscle stack that includes a plurality of artificial muscle layers. Each artificial muscle layer includes one or more artificial muscles having a housing with an electrode region and an expandable fluid region, a dielectric fluid housed within the housing, and an electrode pair having a first and second electrode positioned in the electrode region. The first and second electrodes each include two or more tab portions and two or more bridge portions. The two or more bridge portions interconnects adjacent tab portions. At least one of the first and second electrode includes a central opening positioned between the tab portions and encircling the expandable fluid region. The plurality of artificial muscle layers are arranged such that the expandable fluid region of the artificial muscles of each artificial muscle layer overlaps at least one tab portion of one or more artificial muscles of an adjacent artificial muscle layer.
Spoiler droop function with mechanical feedback driving hydraulic valve
A system for detecting and controlling the position of a spoiler of an aircraft wing is described herein comprising: a hydraulic actuator having a piston rod operably connected to the spoiler, the piston rod being moveable between a retracted position, a neutral position and an extended position; and means for providing power to said hydraulic actuator; and a mechanical device for detecting whether the piston rod is in the retracted position, the neutral position or the extended position; and means, operatively connected to the mechanical device, that is configured to provide a change in a load applied to said hydraulic actuator, wherein said means is configured to change said load based on whether said piston rod is detected as being in said retracted position or said extended position.
Discretized valve state control for multi-level hydraulic systems
An actuation pressure to actuate one or more hydraulic actuators may be determined based on a load on the one or more hydraulic actuators of a robotic device. Based on the determined actuation pressure, a pressure rail from among a set of pressure rails at respective pressures may be selected. One or more valves may connect the selected pressure rail to a metering valve. The hydraulic drive system may operate in a discrete mode in which the metering valve opens such that hydraulic fluid flows from the selected pressure rail through the metering valve to the one or more hydraulic actuators at approximately the supply pressure. Responsive to a control state of the robotic device, the hydraulic drive system may operate in a continuous mode in which the metering valve throttles the hydraulic fluid such that the supply pressure is reduced to the determined actuation pressure.

Time-based power boost control system
A time-based power boost control system. A fluid source supplies fluid. A relief device relieves pressure of the fluid supplied by the fluid source when the pressure of the fluid exceeds a relief pressure level. A control device controls the relief device. When a boost mode in which at least a first level of pressure and a second level of pressure, higher than the first level of pressure, are allowed to be selectively used as the relief pressure level is active, a length of a boost-on time in which the second level of pressure is used as the relief pressure level is shorter than a preset maximum boost-on time limit, and a length of a succeeding boost-off time succeeding the boost-on time in which the first level of pressure is used as the relief pressure level is equal to or longer than a preset minimum boost-off time limit.
Pressing tool
A pressing tool is described for plastically deforming a workpiece. The pressing tool comprises a piston pump driven by a motor that rotates in operating rotation direction RA and a pressure release valve and a coupling arrangement, which mechanically couples the motor to the pressure relief valve, so that the motor opens the pressure relief valve when operated in a loosening rotation direction RL opposite to the operating rotation direction RA. Also described is a corresponding method of operating a pressing tool.
Variable output cylinder assembly and method of use
A variable output cylinder system includes a housing forming an inner cavity, the housing having a centerline co-axially extending through center of the inner cavity, and a first section secured to a second section, the first section having a sidewall the tapers outwardly relative to the centerline and relative to an opening passing through a thickness of the first section; a piston rod extending through and slidingly engaged with the opening; a piston head rigidly attached to an end of the piston rod; a pliable membrane fixedly secured to an outer surface of the piston head, the pliable membrane forming a sealed chamber within the second section, the pliably membrane forming an area disposed between the of the first section and an outer surface of the piston head; and a second opening extending through a thickness of the second section and configured to provide passage to the sealed chamber. The area disposed between the first section and the outer surface of the piston head increases in size as the piston traverses away from the opening of the first section.
