Fastening arrangement

A motor vehicle may have a cylindrical component having two grooves aligned orthogonally to a cylinder axis, recessed into local areas of a lateral surface, and running parallel to each other, and a blind hole in an end of the cylindrical component. A fastening component for the cylindrical component may include a holding device having a U-shaped socket and a head portion having a through opening. The holding device may be matched to the cylindrical component in such a way that the cylindrical component is positively insertable via the two grooves into the U-shaped socket until the blind hole in the end is in alignment with the through opening in the head portion of the holding device. The fastening arrangement may also have a fastening element that is insertable and screwable through the through opening in the head portion into the blind hole in the cylindrical component.

A lock threaded assembly includes a bolt including a shank formed with a bolt head and having a threaded portion; at least one groove formed on the threaded portion; a nut including a threaded hole configured to secure to the threaded portion of the bolt; at least one trough formed on the threaded hole; and at least one engagement member being an elongated elastic strip body having a securing section and a received section, the securing section and the received section being able to elastically get closer to each other or move away from each other. When the groove is not aligned with the trough, the bolt and the nut are not locked by the engagement member; when the groove is aligned with the trough, the bolt and the nut are elastically locked by the engagement member.

Anti-loosening bolt assembly

An anti-loosening bolt assembly includes a bolt having a bolt head and a bolt shank; a fixed nut having second threads on an inner circumferential surface thereof; and a washer, wherein the bolt head includes a plurality of locking protrusions, each of the locking protrusions having an inclined locking surface and a vertical locking surface, the washer includes a plurality of stop protrusions, each of the stop protrusions having an inclined stop surface and a vertical stop surface, and a magnetic member is provided in the washer such that the magnetic member maintains a combined state of the washer with an objective member using a magnetic force, so that when a rotational force is applied to the bolt in the loosening direction, the inclined locking surface is stopped by the inclined stop surface, thereby preventing the bolt from loosening and rotating.

A fastening device, fixing an exhaust manifold (12) on a cylinder head (14) of an internal combustion engine, has a contact surface (20) supported relative to a cylinder head contact surface (22). A fastening edge area (16) has a wedge fastening flange area (24) with a fastening element support surface (26) inclined in relation to the contact surface (20) that has a wedge angle (W.sub.1). A fastening element (38) is pressed against the fastening element support surface (26) with a fastening flange support surface (40) with a fastening bolt unit (30) supported in relation to the cylinder head (14). The wedge angle (W.sub.1) and a coefficient of static friction (μ) of the frictional interaction of the fastening element (38) in relation to the exhaust manifold (12) is defined by: 0<W.sub.1<2 tan.sup.−1 (μ), in which W.sub.1 is the wedge angle, and μ if the coefficient of static friction.

Carrier For Mounting Of Panel Inserts

Provided herein are various enhancements for panel inserts which can provide for mounting of threaded fasteners or other mounting members into various panels. In one example, a panel insert carrier comprises a barrel having flanged ends. The barrel comprising an axial bore therein having a threaded surface configured to removably accept a threaded insert. At least one of the flanged ends comprises an aperture for injection of potting around an exterior of the barrel when inserted into a bore hole of a panel.

SYSTEM INCLUDING BREAKAWAY FASTENERS FOR FABRICATION OF COMPOSITE PARTS

A system including mold pieces coupled together with breakaway bolts or other fasteners for facilitating the fabrication of composite parts for, e.g., aerospace vehicles. First and second mold pieces are coupled together to form a mold within which the composite part is fabricated from a composite material. A coefficient of thermal expansion of the mold pieces is higher than a coefficient of thermal expansion of the composite part. One or more breakaway fasteners couple together the mold pieces while the mold pieces and the composite material are heated, and then purposefully break and thereby decouple the mold pieces and release the composite part when the mold pieces are cooled. The fasteners may be constructed from polytetrafluoroethylene, may include a structural weakness to ensure breakage, may break into two or more pieces when under a tension or a sheering force, or may include threads that sheer when under a tension force.

The cylindrical plug may include a plug head and a plug body. The cylindrical plug may include a receiving feature located in the plug head. The anti-rotation component may include a first locking feature and a second locking feature. The first locking feature may be configured to fixably engage with the receiving feature. The second locking feature may be configured to engage with the hammer assembly.

The hinged expander included two leafs that are joined at an apex in a hinged relationship. Each leaf has an outer edge configured for receipt within a notch in the base plate. Apex is biased in a direction away from the base plate. The teeth prevent outward movement of the leaf edges while permitting inward movement. The base plate is securely fastened to a first building member. A fastener is longitudinally fixed relative to a second building member and the apex of the hinged expander but not fixed longitudinally relative to the base plate and first building member.
